Corrales v Castillo postponed!!!

Post by (craig) »

Diego Corrales has suffered a rib injury forcing a postponement of his WBC lightweight title defense against Jose Luis Castillo, which was scheduled for February 4 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso. SHOWTIME is holding the date for Castillo and another opponent is being sought. Corrales was told no training for three weeks and then he should be good as new. Corrales-Castillo III will likely be rescheduled in the spring.

At least its still going ahead, Corrales could no doubt use the extra time, as he at least botherd to make the weight last time. Still expect a Castillo KO though!!

Can't see them putting Castillo in with anyone too taxing as a replacement, was hoping this third fight would be all over in Feb and then both could move on to something else. They must be sick of the sight of each other by now.

I suspect this is all a ruse by Camp Corralles.

Depending on when it is scheduled, Castillo will either have to stay in camp until they next fight, or maybe even worse, go through making weight all over again, which is going to kill him.

Castillo obviously despises making lightweight.

Anyone else think this is revenge for Castillo fornicating with the scales last time?

Maybe but i'd think that Corrales would have to be assesed medically before he can slide out of a fight date like that.

After the fiasco during the weigh-in for Corrales-Castillo II, it wouldn't surprise me at all. It was bad news at Castillo's training camp, that's for certain. The poor bugger looked great in photos of the preparation. Injury or no injury, Corrales needed the extra recovery time, there's no denying that.
