Full credit to Froch if he takes this. He would have literally fought anyone and everyone after this. I can't stand him, but you can't argue with his resume.
Not a good way to go out though - knocked out I front of 80,000 fans at Wembley, by an international superstar, after a right hand detonates on his jaw.

On the flip side, i cant think of a better way to go out than knocking out GGG in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley.
I doubt this would be a Wembley fight but who knows?
Big GGG fan but I think much of the talk of him moving up or down is fairly hollow. I think he'll stay at 160, which his body is far more suited to than 168, and keep knocking people out there.
If Froch wanted this fight and went on record as saying so then that would put massive pressure on GGG as he and his team have been quite vocal about saying how flexible they would be with weight etc.
Its a winnable fight for Froch but also a fight that could make GGG a household name amongst neutral fans. At the moment he is still in the shadows a bit. Theres a lot of reasons for both to fancy it but also one reason for them not too.... Losing!
How can anyone see Froch winning this fight?? In what way is Froch better than GGG?? This will be brutal as Froch walks onto shots and GGG throws from all angles. Just look how easily Groves hit him.
GGG has been defeating opponents who are generally quite a bit smaller and less capable than Froch, and power doesn't always carry up. Froch has a good chin, physical strength, and stamina, not to mention that he is quite handy when exchanging and has rarely been outfought even against the elite of 168, and I believe that those may be the right ingredients to survive GGG's assault, push him back (a situation in which GGG is typically ineffective), and take him deep. GGG has actually had the most problems when people stand and fight with him, so I'm not sure that Froch is tailor-made for GGG as some people think.
That said, I think I've seen slippage in Froch and the time may be right for GGG to beat him. I also think he's more likely to walk into a big shot than Murray, so the fact that the latter took GGG into the 11th despite being worse than Froch overall and probably no more durable could be misleading.
I actually think that this could be a relatively easy nights work for Froch. The first time I saw Golovkin live (and not on youtube) was against Murray on Channel 5 and I was very impressed. However, Froch is a big, strong, skilled fighter who punches very hard, and GG is not that difficult to hit. Also, I think Froch is one of those people like Eubank that you just can't knock out.
He might not be a Nigel Benn type puncher, but I would say he is a very hard puncher. Look at what he did to Groves (both fights) and Bute. His fights against people like Kessler and Johnson went the distance because they have got seriously good chins, and lesser opponents would have been flat on their backs.

On the flip-side, who has middleweight GGG beat that makes you think he can hang with a super-middle Froch??
Actually, I think Froch has a good chance, but he'll need an Abraham-like performance where he gets behind his jab and doesn't engage that much.
I think he can take GGG's power for a bit, but not all fight. If he keeps getting hit all night long (like he tends to), he will get stopped, no question. However, if he fights slightly negatively and uses his reach and experience, he could get a UD.
If I had to make a bet though, it would be on GGG by KO around 8-10, but I would not be 100% confident in that.
I am not convinced that Golovkin's people really want the Froch fight, he seems to be trying to call out Mayweather. I think they are just throwing big name out.Froch vs Golovkin would be big, though.

Bute never even went down despite taking loads of clean power shots and Groves II was clearly an anomaly looking at who else he's stopped and how he's stopped them. With him I think it's mainly about volume and outlasting opponents, and while he's got heavy hands he's never struck me as an exceptionally hard puncher.

From Froch's point of view, it's not a great fight apart from satisfying the hardcore fight fans. It's a huge risk without being that big of a pay day because casuals don't know GGG yet. Also if he beat GGG I guarantee half the boxing world putting it down to Golovkin being too small.

Bute was knocked into the middle of next week. He had to have help getting back to his stool inbetween rounds, as he didn't know where he was. Taylor was knocked out, Groves was knocked out and stopped, Mack was stopped. It's just that the Kessler's, Abrahams and Johnson's of the world have great chins.
I think people always underestimate Froch's punching power and timing. His handspeed is not amazing like Calzaghe or Roy Jones, yet he always manages to land his shots.
I'd love this fight to happen, but would be surprised if it did.
No matter what though, Froch has one of the best resumes in the current scene. If he retires this afternoon, he'd have nothing to be ashamed of in terms of career achievement, and willingness to fight the best.

I'm not sure about that. A lot of people are telling me that GGG is a monster and he's going to be the next big star. These are people who have a casual interest in the sport and as such are good indicators on whether fighters are known.
GGG is having his reputation built on social media by fans.

This is the major point for me. I am loving the buzz GGG is bringing to the sport but his best win at the minute is Murray who, as good as he is, has not achieved anything at middleweight in comparison to what Froch has achieved 8lb north.
Froch is at least the 2nd best SMW in the world. It's a big ask to add 8lb in weight and fight that level of fighter straight off the bat.
It could happen, because Golovkin's people will be desperate for him to get a big impact win, which this would certainly be, and he's not getting that at 160 anytime soon.
I'ts risky, but they will be so taken with their man's near super human rep, that they will probably see old man Froch as an easy touch...
And Froch, with his world class self belief and ego, might just fancy this, because he'll have the weight, reach and home advantage over the Gman, and will have seen in the last fight that he's not too hard to hit - and the tremendous kudos he'd get with KO'ing "The Man", might prove impossible to resist....

It the big fish in a little pond concept, Froch has been fighting and beating world class fighters in a strong division, where as GGG has had very limited competition in a weak division and is not a natural super middle.
If GGG moves up I think there's a number of SMW's that would beat him including Groves. We saw the same thing happen with AA's career. He was an absolute monster at middle but hasn't reflected that in the SMW division.
