Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
Easy nights work for Froch.
GGG's defence would make it a painful night for him. Froch would make him a 'good boy' by the 8th round latest

Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
Mismatch. Golovkin would retire Froch in brutal fashion. Don't see it happening tbh, think it's just Hearn playing cats and pigeons.

If the fight was made then the hype-job for another Sky PPV would certainly help to establish his name but right now to say "GGG is known to casuals" is laughable and another case of a boxing fan living within the "boxing bubble", casuals don't know who GGG is. The Murray fight didn't attract the biggest audience & his mentions in newspaper are very brief. At best a few might recognise his name.
As for the fight I reckon Froch would fancy it. He'd have the size & toughness to make it a very tough night for GGG.

Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
Let's not get carried away with hype, it wouldn't be an 'easy night's work' for either of them. I'd probably slightly favour Golovkin but there's a lot of unknowns about him moving up, so wouldn't be hugely surprised if Froch pulled it off.
Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
I think there are lots of questions with this fight which make it unpredictable:
1. Does GGG's power travel up to super middleweight?
2. Is Froch's chin tough enough to stand up to the inevitable onslaught it will be put under?
3. Is Golovkin's chin tough enough to stand up to the inevitable onslaught it will be put under?
4. Will Golovkin fight his usual come forward Mexican style war or use his superior technical boxing skills to try to outbox Froch knowing that he is unlikely to be able to knock him out?
5. Will Froch be able to back GGG up and outwork him without being countered constantly with hurtful shots?
6. What effect with home advantage have for Froch and being the away fighter have for Golovkin?
7. Will Froch's height and reach advantage make it very difficult for Golovkin to land his power shots?
8. Will Golovkin's relative lack of experience at the top level and in a new weight class adversely affect him?
9. Will Froch's lack of ring activity adversely affect him especially given how busy Golovkin has been?
10. Has age finally caught up with Froch after being involved in so many wars?
etc etc.
In short there are an awful lot of questions that have to be answered on both sides. It'll be interesting to see how the bookies price this up. I imagine Golovkin will start favourite but I'd have them fairly even, perhaps slightly favouring Golovkin.

GGG said he wants to beat the other middleweight champions before moving up in weight.
I agree, GGG is definitely not known to casual fans.

Agreed. What happened to Abraham was similar to what happened to Felix Trinidad who absotulety destroyed rival welterweights and light middleweights, and then ran into Hopkins at middleweight. He did knock out Joppy, though, who was a small middleweight.Finn wrote:It the big fish in a little pond concept, Froch has been fighting and beating world class fighters in a strong division, where as GGG has had very limited competition in a weak division and is not a natural super middle.daviddee wrote:How can anyone see Froch winning this fight?? In what way is Froch better than GGG?? This will be brutal as Froch walks onto shots and GGG throws from all angles. Just look how easily Groves hit him.
If GGG moves up I think there's a number of SMW's that would beat him including Groves. We saw the same thing happen with AA's career. He was an absolute monster at middle but hasn't reflected that in the SMW division.
Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
I think that this would be a great fight and great gate in terms of dollars but a horrible way for Froch to end his great career. And I do call his career "great" even though i'm not British or because i'm of white complexion. I've loved watching this guy fight. He's got a little Gatti and Ward mixture that I love. I love those fighters that make it more with heart than god given tools. Lets face it, Froch is and has been a shade above an average professional boxer. His heart is on a different stratosphere and the hatred he brings into the ring is real and stays real well after the bell has rung.
I think Froch should hang it up unless he really thinks he can take GGG down. If he's just tapping the bank for one last heist, his legacy will be affected if GGG walks through him. The styles are almost exact and this will no doubt be a fight stuck in corners of the ring each round and Froch's back will have burns from the ropes. "He's no good for us baby" ROCKY II.

That is a ludicrous idea that he is 'a shade about average.' He has world class stamina, toughness and determination, those are key attributes. Let's not forget he was also a world class amateur before he turned pro - to make out that he's a club fighter with a big heart is just ridiculous.caldo2025 wrote:I think that this would be a great fight and great gate in terms of dollars but a horrible way for Froch to end his great career. You are talking out of your blowhole mate.
Froch is on another level to Gatti + Ward.
Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
I genuinely think GGG is all wrong for Froch at this stage. I think it would be a hell of a fight but I reckon GGG would stop him late on. I can't see it happening though so it's all just speculation unfortunately. I'm a big fan of both though so I would love to see it!lefthook82 wrote:Easy nights work for Froch.

"world class stamina, toughness and determination" is just another way to say "heart", MATE. I never intimated Froch was anywhere near a club fighter and calling a Froch a GATTI/WARD combination is beyond a compliment if you knew more about non British fighters. That is a ludicrous idea that he is 'a shade about average.' Froch wins his fights on heart, not technique...news flash. Take another look at the Froch/Ward fight and you will see the difference between an elite boxer and an excellent boxer. Froch was never and will never be elite but that's why we love him. He's awkward but he's a beast.

I know exactly who Gatti and Ward you - don't patronize me mate, I've been following boxing for 35 years now - you think Froch is the only fighter I ever heard of?caldo2025 wrote:"world class stamina, toughness and determination" is just another way to say "heart", MATE. You intimated that Froch was barely above average in terms of skills, which I'm afraid is not true - Froch is way above average in his skills as well as his other attributes - nobody is saying he's some super slick boxer, but average is not a correct phrasing.
Ward is one of the best boxers around in any division at the moment, so being outboxed by Ward is hardly an indication that your skills are average. Froch completely outboxed and dominated Abraham - who is hardly an average fighter, he also totally dismantled Bute, dominating behind the jab and applying intelligent pressure.
You obviously haven't seen that many of Froch's fights, if you think he has poor technical ability, or you have no idea what 'average' actually means.
Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
Ward is a big SMW and very hard to hit, GGG isn't either.caldo2025 wrote:"world class stamina, toughness and determination" is just another way to say "heart", MATE. Win, lose or draw this would be the perfect end to a great gladiator's career.
Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
This will be this generation nigel benn vs gerald mcclellan like fight, without the tragic ending.

Sorry, I wasn't aware you'd conducted the scientific research of three random friends on facebook.
Seriously mate, if you've got fb friends talking about GGG I can assure you they are not what most would class as "casual" fans. GGG whilst a great fighter is far from an established name, especially over here in the UK. If he came over here & sparked Froch though that would change.

Exactly! I hardly think getting outboxed by Ward is much indication of what would transpire against Golovkin.Finn wrote:Ward is a big SMW and very hard to hit, GGG isn't either.caldo2025 wrote:"world class stamina, toughness and determination" is just another way to say "heart", MATE. How is Golovkin going to react if he's getting hit with hard shots as he tries to close the gap, or when he finds that Froch is actually coming for him - thus far he's been able to get everyone on the back foot - interesting to see what happens if and when he is forced onto the back foot.
It might be that Golovkin is that good that he is able to live with froch despite the difference in size, and maybe he will batter him - who knows, but people are writing Froch off as if he was the guy moving up.
We saw what happened to Abraham when he moved up, and Trinidad, and a host of others.

This is my dream fight at the moment and after watching GGG v Murray i'd have Froch in with a great chance of winning,we know what Froch has to offer and there are no secrets with him,all the unknowns lie with GGG at the moment i think.

This is all based on an exclusive from Jeff Powell at the Daily Mail. He's a lousy journalist, but he does have connections to Hearn. Until one of the promoters says something in public this is just a rumour.

Re: Froch vs Golovkin in talks...
froch of 3 years ago might of toughed it out but the froch that fought groves twice would get the crap bashed out of him if groves can land his right hands with such ease and damage what would golovkin do , as for size froch isn't a giant 168 fighter he's not struggling to make the weight i don't see it being a massive difference it might just mean GGG is quicker . golovkin isn't your normal puncher he doesn't seem to gas out like many punchers ,i just think froch was a bit lucky vs groves and he hasn't got any younger since .
