No its headline by Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin world ibf title + 2 other world title fight's 1 in Kevin Mitchel v George Linares, then Lee Selby v Evgeny Gradovich, both good scraps, a vacant middleweight British title John Rider v nick Blackwell, a vacant British lightweight title Scott cardell v Craig Evens, and Dave Ryan v Hibbert a for commonwealth title, then Antony Joshua V Kevin Johnson , That beats the Mayweather PPV for me

Ad halfway down the page on Sky Sports news story about the new deal, showing Joshua as 1/100 v Johnson, and Brook as 1/10 v Gavin....
Yep, quality.

What got you more excited this card or something like a kosta v Hatton or calzaghe v lacy?which had no undercard but the main events were genuine super fights broadcasting on primetime usa tv. Personally I prefer the latter which are true ppv fights

Give me Haye vs A-Farce anyday over Frankie Gavin.
Re: Eddie Hearn just said on Sky Sports News...
I`m going and I`m looking forward to it as it`s a very good card, but it won`t compare to Froch-Bute which I was genuinely excited for despite the undercard being shite.rio wrote:What got you more excited this card or something like a kosta v Hatton or calzaghe v lacy?which had no undercard but the main events were genuine super fights broadcasting on primetime usa tv. It is a great card, just a shame we've been served garbage on Sky Sports...had we had good fights on Sky Sports I'd have been saying that Matchroom had been doing great and deserved to have a PPV blow out (though maybe not so soon after the Mayweather Vs Pacquiao bout)

Its a very good card and if it hadn't been for the fact we've been fed shite on normal Sky Sports so far this year all so any decent fight can be added to this, i'd be happy to pay. At the min I'm still undecided really shouldnt give them my money as it paves the way for Matchroom/Sky to do it again BUT I wanna see the fights
Re: Eddie Hearn just said on Sky Sports News...
It's an excellent card and I'm looking forward to it, but the fight I'm looking forward to the least is the main event, as I think it will be a huge mismatch that will last about as long as Brook's last defence.
I'm going to the show, so I'm not that bothered by the fact it is PPV.

Mate honestly go and look at Hatton and Calzaghe's fights leading up to Kostya and Lacy. We had those on Sky and then that Calzaghe v Lacy fight on ITV along with Amir Khan's early career blow outs and Audley v Danny Williams 1 and 2. With zero undercard.Boxerbeetle wrote:Calzaghe v Lacy was on ITV! Macca-Hobson was a brilliant fight whilst Calzaghe-Lacy was hugely anticipated. Hatton-Kostya was a true PPV event with an unrivalled atmosphere, and I was at Wembley too... Only Froch-Bute has been a genuinely intriguing fight on normal Sky on home soil. Eddie is terrible for British boxing.

Re: Eddie Hearn just said on Sky Sports News...
In boxing Monthly Hearn told Mark Butcher that nothing has changed in the way Matchroom are now doing things and how they did things when they started....well lets take a quick look shall we?
January 28th 2012-
A young and up coming Frampton (then 11-0, 7) Vs Kris Hughes (then 15-1, 1) in the main event, Erick Ochieng (then 8-1, 2) Vs Nick Quigley (10-1) in what turned out to be the show stealer.
On paper they looked interesting and whilst Frampton was, if memory serves, a very clear favourite it was a good solid first defense of the Commonwealth title. Ochieng Vs Quigley ended up being a domestic FOTY contender (maybe even the winner)
Card also featured John Ryder, Robin Reid, Wadi Camcho (debut).
March 17th-
Main event was Kell Brook (then 26-0, 18) Vs Matthew Hatton (42-5-2, 16) with notable support bouts featuring Carl Frampton (then 12-0, 8) vs Prosper Ankrah (then 18-2, 13) in a Commonwealth title defense, Gregorz Proksa (then 26-0, 19) defending the European title against Kerry Hope (then 16-3, 1) and an English title fighter between Adnan Amar (then 25-1, 7) a Lee Purdy (then 16-3-1, 9).
The main event there was widely called for, Frampton defending the Commonwealth title against an opponent that was just about acceptable, Proksa vs Hope looked disappointingly one sided though was surprisingly competitive in the end.
Really solid card.
April 27th-
Tony Bellew (then 16-1, 10) Vs Danny McIntosh (13-2, 7) in a British title fight
Bellew may have finished off McIntosh relatively easily but it was a decent match up, a domestic scrap with a British title on the line and Bellew's first bout since linking up with Matchroom.
May 26th-
Lucian Bute (then 30-0, 24) Vs Carl Froch (then 28-2, 20) in a very highly demanded bout, Carl Frampton (then 13-0, 9) vs Raul Hirales (then 16-0-1, 8) in a great looking bout on paper.
There was more to this card than the two bouts mentioned but they really were good match ups, the sort of thing we're now seeing put on to box office.
(They were 4 of the first 5 "Eddie Hearn" shows on boxrec, the other from the 5 was a prizefighter show with Corley Vs McCloskey on it)
Doesn't really look like the recent cards get close to those which had 50-50 bouts, and progressive match making.

This one is PPV the ones I mentioned were all Sky Sports. The July one does look good though sadly we've had a lot of crap this year so we sort of deserve a good one.DMA1987 wrote:I'd say this card is much better.Boxing Prospect wrote:In boxing Monthly Hearn told Mark Butcher that nothing has changed in the way Matchroom are now doing things and how they did things when they started....well lets take a quick look shall we?

Mayweather-Pacquiao shits all over this card, I genuinely can't believe anyone would rather pay to watch May 30th than a superfight between the two best P4P fighters in the worlddavid1963 wrote:It looks much better than the Mayweather - Pacquiao card to me, but it all comes down to who you want to see.hoot wrote:No its headline by Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin world ibf title + 2 other world title fight's 1 in Kevin Mitchel v George Linares, then Lee Selby v Evgeny Gradovich, both good scraps, a vacant middleweight British title John Rider v nick Blackwell, a vacant British lightweight title Scott cardell v Craig Evens, and Dave Ryan v Hibbert a for commonwealth title, then Antony Joshua V Kevin Johnson , That beats the Mayweather PPV for me

Presumably you've seen Mayweather - Pacquiao. Perhaps you marvelled at the brutal intensity of a 12 round "event" in which the boxers landed about 150 punches between them. Personally, I'd much rather see a fight, especially if both guys are trying to use their attributes to win rather than avoid losing. Or maybe it was the undercard of Mayweather - Pacquiao that thrilled you.expe wrote:Mayweather-Pacquiao shits all over this card, I genuinely can't believe anyone would rather pay to watch May 30th than a superfight between the two best P4P fighters in the worlddavid1963 wrote:It looks much better than the Mayweather - Pacquiao card to me, but it all comes down to who you want to see.hoot wrote:No its headline by Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin world ibf title + 2 other world title fight's 1 in Kevin Mitchel v George Linares, then Lee Selby v Evgeny Gradovich, both good scraps, a vacant middleweight British title John Rider v nick Blackwell, a vacant British lightweight title Scott cardell v Craig Evens, and Dave Ryan v Hibbert a for commonwealth title, then Antony Joshua V Kevin Johnson , That beats the Mayweather PPV for me

I have actually been looking forward to this card more than I was the May v PAC tbh. May v PAC had went a bit stale by the time they eventually agreed to fight IMO. It was never going to live up to the hype. At least on this card there are some genuine 50/50 fights.expe wrote:Mayweather-Pacquiao shits all over this card, I genuinely can't believe anyone would rather pay to watch May 30th than a superfight between the two best P4P fighters in the worlddavid1963 wrote:It looks much better than the Mayweather - Pacquiao card to me, but it all comes down to who you want to see.hoot wrote:No its headline by Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin world ibf title + 2 other world title fight's 1 in Kevin Mitchel v George Linares, then Lee Selby v Evgeny Gradovich, both good scraps, a vacant middleweight British title John Rider v nick Blackwell, a vacant British lightweight title Scott cardell v Craig Evens, and Dave Ryan v Hibbert a for commonwealth title, then Antony Joshua V Kevin Johnson , That beats the Mayweather PPV for me
Re: Eddie Hearn just said on Sky Sports News...
I watched the fight and enjoyed it, two quality fighters going at it trying to work each other out and get the upper hand. If you think that two fighters standing in front of each other and blocking punches with their faces because they lack the ability to do anything else is the only thing that constitutes a 'fight', then you really don't know anything about boxing.david1963 wrote:Presumably you've seen Mayweather - Pacquiao.
