You will be in for a treat with those - especially the first fight - an awesome battle - what a warrior Holyfield was.
I have just watched
Bonavena vs Mildenberger
Patterson vs Hurricane Jackson 2
Nigel benn vs Sugar Boy Malinga
Basilio vs art aragon
Ali vs Mildenberger - A UK broadcast

Let us know what you think of the Holy fights

:TU: yeah I'm enjoying it although i don't think the Mrs does when I watch it on the TV through TiVo

I watched both Evander Holyfield-Dwight Muhammad Qawi fights earlier, first one was a cracker and Evander actually had a decent head of hair, next up is the Barrera-Morales trilogy although I'll probably leave them until next week seeing as I've got Smith-McCella tonight, Beltran-Ao tomorrow and that other fight on Saturday between the 2 guys whose names escape me

I think I'm already testing her patience to the limit

Both good fights I thought for different reasons, the first fight was fought at an incredible pace and was competitive with the tide switching, Great right from Holyfield to finish things in the rematch, Qawi gave it a go but just didn't have it by then it seemed although it was clear Evander had improved

I'll tell you what I watched a few rounds of last week, that I saw at the time - and that was Ryan Rhodes versus Otis Grant. I was amazed that they seemed to be boxing in a leisure hall - a world title fight involving a kid who'd become British champion and won a Lonsdale belt outright in record time I think................anyway, Rhodes was pot-shotting the head and doing very little else, apart from missing. I'm no expert but there was no cumulative build-up of shots for Grant to deal with at all - no body shots. I can't remember if he lost points or even if it went that far, but Grant was too clever to get done like that.

Grant won unanimous points If I remember correctly.

He did, there were 2 points in it on all 3 cards I think.

I recent put into the book Riddick Bowe v Pierre Coetzer and Bowe's two round bomb out job of Jesse Ferguson. Oh and the Herbie Hide fight too. And also Prince Naz v Tom Johnson.

Coetzer was a crazy brave guy wasn't he?

Been watching a fair bit of Honeyghan again - one of the big stars of my youth - and just loved his brash, 'I am the man' style when he was at his peak. The fight with Curry still makes me a smile as it dawns on Don that the bloke charging right at him is on an absolute mission. I'd also forgotten some of the more wild Honeyghan defences like the mugging of Johnny Bumphus and his tussles with Vaca.

I watched Paul Ingle v Junior Jones last night. Very entertaining fight. I have vivid memories of watching that fight live on sky, but absolutely no idea that it was under Lennox Lewis v Michael Grant.

It's strange, I remember both fights well, but completely forgotten that they were on the same card. My memory is normally impeccable on such details.

Lloyd had some great nights.....I've not seen it as yet, but apparently his British title fight with Cliff Gilpin was a give-and-take classic.

Have also watched Sanders v Wlad K again. With Sanders you are always left with so many 'what ifs' it almost makes your head hurt.

Looking back at the fight you realise that although Wlad was robotic, Sanders must have carried a massive dig to put a big/powerful guy like Wlad on queer street and when he pulled the trigger his hands were super fast and he also had great timing.

Is the fight a true classic? Maybe not just yet...but with Wlad edging closer to ATG status... it grows in importance and reputation.

I am going to revisit those....Paul was a stonking little fighter for a good few years. Seemed to be quite a shy lad out of the ring but once he got in there he was all business. His reign as a world class featherweight seems to have been overshadowed by McGuigan and Hamed; both huge personalities with big profiles.

Vargas picked him apart in a career-best showing. That night you'd think he was going to go on to have a Sanchez-type career, and he just went, meh. Stopped Patterson, outpointed tackie, and umm that was about it i think. I like d hoko but think he was quite carefully matched and his best wins didnt really pull up any contemporary trees.

My memory of the fight was of a one sided affair but watched it again recently and hoko was very much in it till the last round he landed some cracking shots but VARGAS took em all and kept coming, didn't mayweather beat VARGAS in a non title fight ?
