Will Al Haymon allow Deontay Wilder to fight Alexander Povetkin?

Post by Freedom2013 »

I know Wilder is brave enough to fight Povetkin, either in the USA or in Russia.

But Al Haymon has been very protective of him. I wonder will Haymon have Wilder avoid his mandatory?

I'd love to see Povetkin-Wilder. I think they are both legit top heavyweights, probably the #2 and #3 best after Wladimir Klitschko.

That depends for how long Haymon can pay off Sulaiman&WBC to postpone making the mandatory. However Povetkin has money behind him so Haymon can't run for long.

Somewhere in Alabama right now Wilder is desperately trying to break his other hand; he won't need it against Molina, and it gives him an excuse to push back a fight against Povetkin.

In particular, I'm curious about what will happen if this goes to purse bids and Povetkin's multi-billionaire promoter wins. Will Wilder be allowed to defend his title in Russia in a non-PBC bout?

I think Wilder will have the time until January 17, 2016 to defend his title against Povetkin. After easy KO win over Molina he can fight someone who resembles Povetkin. I think it would be smart for his team to see how he looks against small pressure fighter like Fedosov (if he beats Dennis tonight). Fedosov isn't on Povetkin's level, but his style is similar - he is natural pressure fighter with short, compact punches.

That's quite a risk to take, if you ask me (the part about Fedosov I mean).

With the number of top fighters Haymon "advises", Sulaiman is probably in his pocket, and if he doesn't cooperate, Haymon will introduce his own titles.

I doubt it, Wilders all smoke and mirrors if Haymon don't control the mirrors the fight won't happen unless it is for a lot of money.

Povetkin looking in great shape and technically very smart would have too much for wilder.... Though with his obvious power wilder would always carry a punchers chance!
