2. Tyson Fury
3. Deontay Wilder
4. Kubrat Pulev
5. Bryant Jennings

Topic A - How are the rankings affected by Alexander Povetkin's TKO1 win over Mike Perez?

My vote: Povetkin remains #1, Perez OUT.

Yes, Povetkin is the undisputed #1 ranked contender. If I have to go by the list, and by the rules I do, Perez is out.

Anyone having anything different than Povetkin stays 1 and Perez is out needs to check in to the funnyfarm.

Povetkin remains at 1, Perez out.

I suppose we'll have a separate vote to see who comes in? Because since that gap is caused by Perez' exclusion it would be topical, but I didn't want to mention anything since it wasn't in the OP.

Correctomundo - I don't like to include the vote in the same thread before the fighter has actually been voted out.

Yup, total unanimity here or however you spell that. Given the list and the KO1 result there really wasn't another choice.

Everyone has said Povetkin remains @ 1 and Perez is out.

If anyone's personal rankings had Wilder or Fury ahead of Povetkin, I think the KO1 over Perez should have changed that. In other words, even if Fury or Wilder was ahead of Povetkin, they shouldn't be now. I would have ranked Perez higher than 15 myself before this match.

Champion: Wladimir Klitschko
1. Alexander Povetkin
2. Tyson Fury
3. Deontay Wilder
4. Kubrat Pulev
5. Bryant Jennings

After these six names, there is a drop off in talent.

Robert Helenius I think has enough to make into the top 15. People forget about him.

Yeah, and Jennings performed better against Wlad than Povetkin did. What's your point?

My point is Jennings is getting credit for Wlad's average performance.I believe due to Wlad's advancing age.
Jennings looks decent but not elite by any standard.

Besides Wlad, none of these guys are elite. There is no reasonable to way to evaluate Jennings solely on his performance against Perez. You're saying that Wlad gave an "average performance" due to Wlad's advancing age, but it's also likely that Perez entered the ring totally unprepared against Povetkin and was just there to collect a large paycheck.

Jennings is at the same level as every other top HW not named Klitschko. He'd beat some of them and lose to some, just the same as everybody else if they actually fought each other.

I mostly agree with that except the Jennings-Perez fight was VERY close IMO.

Maybe so.But Jennings has done nothing to convince me that he is top 5 as stated by the above poster.
I barely rate him in the top 10
Time will tell though. :TU:
