Still can't decide. Time to watch a few more Dirrell fights.

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
A neutral look says Dirrell wins, world class skills & big time experience, and home advantage in a fight odds on to go the distance. His loss to AA was bizarre, he really looked like he tanked it there, but his close loss (?) to Froch showed the type of slippery skills that could prove a nightmare for a chasing DeGale..
That said, and because I'm biased, I think Chunky steps up and puts pressure on the American to out hustle him for a narrow points win. He wants this title badly and that might prove the difference.

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Dirrell will edge it on points IMO, if DeGale tries to put the pressure on he'll struggle to get near to him, Dirrell is as slick as they come and James isn't really a pressure fighter. I can see a drawn out technical battle, very cagey with neither getting the upper hand and a lot of close rounds, on home turf I can't look past Dirrell in that type of fight.

Sorry, my bad. I mean the home fighter may get a wider decision than my prediction.Tarkus wrote:Which home judges are you talking about, Howard Foster? I think officials are as neutral as they come.Old Jack J wrote:Dirrell 116-112.
I foresee a boring technical bout with Dirrell taking an early unsurmountable lead before Degale realises he needs to be busier and wins the last 4 rounds.
PS :- Thats my scorecard but the home judges may have it wider.

I reckon DeGale will stop him. For all his skills, there is something fragile about Dirrell. I reckon DeGale will be too much for him.

After much deliberation I'm going for Degale. Can't see Dirrell being the same fighter as 6 years ago. Degale will be too hungry and too sharp. I'm hoping........

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
I think you're right about him not being the same. He looked a bit flat footed against Brinson and if he doesn't have that elusiveness Degale WILL bully him. On the other hand, he still has that phenomenal speed, and surprising pop, that he did show against Brinson, in devastating fashion. I see him landing the odd pearler on Degale like that and it's going to take a lot of heart for James to come through those. The Insider wrote:After much deliberation I'm going for Degale. Thats where I am. Momentum is with DeGale and I think he is a better boxer. As for much discussed mental strength, I think both of them are equally weak. :PThe Insider wrote:After much deliberation I'm going for Degale. Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
C'mon James, can't wait for this one,I don't think Dirrell's sliding,I think he might be better than he was in the Super 6 athough he hasn't fought anyone since Abraham,he wasn't great against Brinson but the other fights he's shown spite
In saying all that i still think a prime DeGale beats a prime Dirrell, and I think James is mentally tougher and he beats Andre wherever the fight takes place and if DeGale wants to put on a show he stops Dirrell
This is DeGale's time, and if he is as good as ive said, hes got the style to match Ward defo

To be fair, the football was quite good.
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Yeah, I'm not really sure what all the moanings about, there was always a chance that the game could overrun and they weren't going to switch over while it was still going, not to mention that football will always take priority over boxing.Old Jack J wrote:To be fair, the football was quite good.
