I like McCrory's beard, he reminds of that bloke who throws stones with Mel Gibson in Braveheart.

Is not that a good thing?SNG wrote:I like McCrory's beard, he reminds of that bloke who throws stones with Mel Gibson in Braveheart.

Has the main event happened yet? Just finished work & got to the pub & it's some ginger bloke fighting.

Very good point.stujones wrote:DeGale was at least closer to legitmately beating Dirrel as Froch was.
I suppose it then depends on whether you feel Dirrell is on the decline or not. Some feel he is way passed his best, i'm not so sure. With that in mind DeGale deserves a lot of credit - still a very strange performance from him though.

Nice use of Alice in Chains in between rounds there too.
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
i didnt have a scorecard, i dont need one to see that he won comfortably. I agreed with all 3 of the judges.Horse wrote:What was your scorecard then?Kingfield wrote:he had it won easy. put dirrell down twice, dominated him, was quicker and landed the much bigger punches.
you are all so negative.
I had it 115-113 DeGale. Most people seem to have it for DeGale by 1 or 2.

It's important to be open minded, I suppose.Horse wrote:Kingfield wrote:i didnt have a scorecard, i dont need one to see that he won comfortably. I agreed with all 3 of the judges.
"Degale won 6 rounds, but he also won 9"
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Dirrel is definitely not on the slide. He is slick, quick and has excellent skills. Against a come forward fighter he'll look superb.ALI wrote:Very good point.stujones wrote:DeGale was at least closer to legitmately beating Dirrel as Froch was.

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Superb win for DeGale, he deserved it,I had it 115-112,I tipped him to win well but I that scorecard from the Canadian was shocking
I've gotta say though as much as he deserves massive credit, I think he's better than he shown tonight, he had too many lulls and fought too much on the backfoot,he gave Dirrell some of they rounds, there was a good few rounds that he snatched at the end which is clever but I would have liked to have seen him boss more,it was no coincidence that he had his most success when he put Andre under pressure by letting his punches go,especially seeing as it was clear he was hurting Dirrell
Great win all the same time though, he's never got the dues he deserves

What history book have you been reading?Rexob wrote:The first British GOLD OLYMPIC champion.
Well done James DeGale - that was an excellent win.
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Yeah he's world class and put on a better performance tonight then he did against Froch, if he actually took the fight to Froch as he did tonight in the middle rounds he would've beaten Froch that night.Zubrei wrote:Dirrel is definitely not on the slide. Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Froch would have knocked him out if he was more aggressive. There's often a reason for it when fighters are being negative.digzee wrote:Yeah he's world class and put on a better performance tonight then he did against Froch, if he actually took the fight to Froch as he did tonight in the middle rounds he would've beaten Froch that night.

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
I gave it to DeGale comfortably but I the lack of work is something he'll need to address, I thought the stamina issue was resolved but this seemed more of a lazy, naive approach

I thought exactly the same, he had a run of around 4 rounds in the mid to latter stages of the fight that he dropped through lack of workrate.
I know it's sometimes disrespectful to the opponent to not credit his work for this. But I can't help feel Degale could have done more in that spell

Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Did degale get under Froch's skin with his 2nd in the world comment?
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
I think it is something that DeGale has had as part of his make uo for along time. In lots of fights he has made them closer than they need to be. He used to say it was injuries that affected his training, but mentally he just seems to switch off at tuimes and go into his own zone.davie wrote:handsofstone wrote:I gave it to DeGale comfortably but I the lack of work is something he'll need to address, I thought the stamina issue was resolved but this seemed more of a lazy, naive approach

Still, I am pleased for him, never a easy thing to do to go to the states to win.
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Semantics. They all had him winning. As did I.Horse wrote:Kingfield wrote:i didnt have a scorecard, i dont need one to see that he won comfortably. I agreed with all 3 of the judges.
Re: DeGale v Dirrell - Who wins?
Lets not forget in the second round that degale took a bit of a pasting before he dug deep and turned it around. That was bound to affect his out put later in the fight. It looked at one point in that round that Dirrell was going to steam roll him.

So... You didn't score it, but you did. & you agree DeGale won by two points, & by eight.
Well done.
