I decided not to include Kovalev or Stevenson, because those fights seem less likely.

DeGale by far, when he comes back they should take him on talk shows everywhere and publicize the fact he's the first Olympic gold medallist to win a world title, get on them dancing shows, the public would lap it up.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Hopkins, as you can flog it as a PPV is america. Best fight is Glovkin, then Degale.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
When was the last time Hopkins was PPV? I don't think he's been on PPV for a while.Zubrei wrote:Hopkins, as you can flog it as a PPV is america. Best fight is Glovkin, then Degale.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
The real answer is the winner of Degale and Groves.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Was his fight vs. Calzaghe on PPV? I can't remember, but that's the last one I can think of that could have been, really?digzee wrote:When was the last time Hopkins was PPV? When would that fight be likely to happen?SNG wrote:The real answer is the winner of Degale and Groves.
I don't think that's likely to be next for Froch. He might be out of the ring for over 2 years before he can fight the winner of that one.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Its definitely a fight for early next year, and I know Froch is close to done but the kind of money they could do on that fight could get him in for one more after his next I would think, especially if it was Degale who came through against Groves. This is all providing Groves beats Jack and they fight next.Horse wrote:When would that fight be likely to happen?SNG wrote:The real answer is the winner of Degale and Groves.

Strange how its been so long. Maybe because when he was younger he was more exciting and since he's got older he's had to adapt and been more defensive.Bobbyptsd wrote:Was his fight vs. Calzaghe on PPV? Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
The difficulty is that Degale can hardly string two words together. He really cannot help but jumble up the order of his words when he's put in front of a camera. Hardly a PR dream. He's a bit of a dope.digzee wrote:DeGale by far, when he comes back they should take him on talk shows everywhere and publicize the fact he's the first Olympic gold medallist to win a world title, get on them dancing shows, the public would lap it up.

Calzaghe tweeted earlier that DeGale would 'whoop' Froch
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Would it still be a big money fight if Froch lost to Golovkin in the meantime?SNG wrote:Its definitely a fight for early next year, and I know Froch is close to done but the kind of money they could do on that fight could get him in for one more after his next I would think, especially if it was Degale who came through against Groves. I think it could still be sold big, yeah. But he does mean well and the public love the strange type, there probably feel sorry for him.liamlion wrote:The difficulty is that Degale can hardly string two words together. Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Can't understand Froch's apathy towards the domestic scene.
I would have thought he would be looking at the fact we have 3 guys fighting for world titles at SMW (admittedly 1 has 0% chance of actually winning) and thinking, there's some real money to be made here.
if Froch, Groves and Degale all hold versions of the title soon there's plenty of money to be made in stadium filling, PPV unification fights
I appreciate he wants his Vegas fight or a big name in America to get a big pay day. But there's potentially some huge domestic fights, at genuine world level that could be unification fights for serious dough

Funny, I've liked degale for a long time precisely because he's inarticulate: he 's just like a mate if mine, also called James, right down to the accent and everything, and my mate has everything in the right place but just struggles to articulate himself properly... But he's a good lad. I think people can take to degale. Look at brook with his weird squeaky voice, froch with his dull monotone, calzaghe wasn't exactly the life and soul... Only Hatton had a bit of patter. Of course, the likes of benn and Eubank had something else and hammed too...digzee wrote:But he does mean well and the public love the strange type, there probably feel sorry for him.liamlion wrote:The difficulty is that Degale can hardly string two words together. On topic, I don't know which fight will make the most. Defo not Hopkins or ward who is growing increasingly more irrelevant and doesn't really seem to give a toss about his career, pricing himself out of big fights and then fighting Paul smith: he might as well just do some more sparring. There's a boatload of beatable guys he could come back and fight and he picks a guy who's coming off a loss and was KO 'd by both degale and groves...
That leaves Golovkin and Degale. Look man, both seem like they're tough tough fights. Carl's been inactive for a long time and Degale is really the top man now. For me, it's a no brainer. Golovkin is THE man at middleweight. It's the better fight, win or lose Carl's the man for taking it, and I'm pretty sure the money won 't be any different. Degale could box Froch's ears off and then that's it. I think it's better carl goes out with a bang and fights the Kazakh. It's more of an event and if he wins, then degale and retire.
I think Eddie will just see the dollar signs seeing as he has them both and make Froch Degale. As it stands that's fine, but I think Carl's on the wane and should put it all in the line against Golovkin, and then they can build degale groves II, provided groves gets past jack, and I think that's the real wembley stadium job.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
I've said all along Froch should be beating the door down to get Ward and try and avenge that defeat. He keeps saying he is scared of no man but where is his pride and ambition to secure his name at the top of the tree of British boxing. If he beat Ward he'd have a very strong claim to being Britains best ever on resume (although Calzaghe would've done a number on him for me).
Put up or shut up Carl. In ten / twenty years time that Ward defeat will matter far more to you then than it obviously does now.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
DeGale has always seemed like a nice bloke, the act before the Groves thing was just that I think.
I think Carl thought Jame would lose last night, thus eliminating him from being a potential opponent. I'm sure he will be pleased DeGale won. If he does fight again, then he has just become another big payday.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Froch has some good options but the big money fights are a hard ask IMO. At this stage I think GGG and DeGale both beat him. Hopkins is a hiding to nothing and the Ward fight would be another bore a minute effort that he may struggle to get properly motivated for.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Nah I don't see DeGale beating Froch at all. DeGale has clearly got stamina issues, if he tried to take half the rounds off against Froch he'd be in a world of trouble. DeGale just isn't a 12 round fighter - and we all saw what happened to Groves when Froch dragged him into deep waters in the later rounds.Stuarty30 wrote:I think he would beat him fairly comfortably on points.
