Would be good to see but don't think it will happen. I still reckon DeGale would take him on points but would more than likely have to survive an onslaught from Froch at some stage. It's a fight that would definitely capture the publics imagination.Boxerbeetle wrote:Nah I don't see DeGale beating Froch at all. I can see Froch walking through Degale as soon as he takes his foot off the gas

Froch would have stopped degale last night. Degale was given some free time by dirrell but froch would have been on him and hurting him.
If i was degale i would avoid froch. Nothing to gain. If he wins he beat an old man, if he loses then it seriously affects his credibility going forward

Props to chunky for that performance last night. Dirrell is no easy touch and Degale was cruising at times against him, taking his foot off the peddle.
The Groves loss could have gone either way and I`d pick him to win a rematch there. It would be a tough ask for Froch to beat him, but I`d pick him to win over 12. Can`t see Regale stopping Froch, or having the engine to work with him for 12 hard rounds.
With Callum Smith coming through, we could have some very tasty matches in the next couple of years.

A rematch against Groves if he wins a world title would probably be worth more to him too as he would get a larger slice of the pie. Plus he would get more credit for avenging defeat and beating a fellow young champ.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
I just can't see what James Degale would bring to the table to be honest.
IBF title? had that, vacated it.
Fear Factor? nope.
Huge fan base? nope.
Worldwide TV audience? nope.
whereas GGG could possibly bring HBO interest in the fight, worldwide TV interest and a good dose of fear, which Froch has mentioned numerous times as requirement nowadays.
Let's be honest, outside of Degale's detached bungalow, who'd pick Froch vs Degale over Froch vs Golovkin? nobody.

3G brings the old Soviet Bloc, Mexico, the USA and Vegas into play.
I voted for DeGale based on this American exposure and visions of a packed Wembly. It would not be ppv worthy for the USA though and Eurasia and Mexico would have little interest.
3G v Froch would do ok ppv numbers in the USA and bring in more international interest.
DeGale might outmaneuver Froch for 3G though.

Without wanting to spark yet another Froch / Calzaghe debate, they've been having a Twitter spat since last night, both slagging each other off & calling each other cowards. Quite funny to read.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Think golovkin fight could be big, I know he's not well known but with the right promotion it wouldn't take long for the public to catch on a bit like when Benn fought Mcclellan, Mcclellan wasn't a big name over here but the public soon cottoned on that he was top draw stuff and that drew them in, can you imagine froch and golovkin facing each other about to start round 1 at Wembley the hairs would be standing up on the back of your head

I like this version of Joe, a bit like when Superman was unshaved and having fights in bars and his cape was all filthy.

I've got manlove for Joe, but his retirement has been anything but dignified and he really shouldn't use social media after 6pm, if at al.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
I'm not sure Wembley would work personally, but the fight doesn't need Wembley. After all, Carl isn't from London, and neither is Golovkin - why not have it at Nottingham Forest's ground - surely that makes more sense financially?littlepug wrote:Think golovkin fight could be big, I know he's not well known but with the right promotion it wouldn't take long for the public to catch on a bit like when Benn fought Mcclellan, Mcclellan wasn't a big name over here but the public soon cottoned on that he was top draw stuff and that drew them in, can you imagine froch and golovkin facing each other about to start round 1 at Wembley the hairs would be standing up on the back of your head
I can't see it doing 80,000 tickets - not in London, not anywhere really. It's very rate you get a significant number of people to turn up to see a fight live in the UK,
In fact there's a good argument if they did fight, for doing it in Vegas - Carl wants a big fight there, the ticket prices tend to be high for Vegas fights, American TV money, and it's neutral ground.
Obviously, just my take, as I'm not a promoter, but it strikes me negotiations might be easier for a Vegas fight than a UK one - Golovkin is certain to want a lot of money to come over to the UK to fight Froch on home turf.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
I personally think Calzaghe is looking back on his career with just a twinge of regret - and he's finding it hard to cope that Froch is now getting respect from pretty much every quarter.G0mez wrote:Joe's out of his face again obviously.Boxerbeetle wrote:Without wanting to spark yet another Froch / Calzaghe debate, they've been having a Twitter spat since last night, both slagging each other off & calling each other cowards. Why else would he bother chiming in to say degale would whup his ass? It's a bit foolish really - Joe turned down the chance to fight Carl - it was his choice and he exercised it, so why now be chiming in like that. He would have beaten Carl pretty easily I think, and it would have in some ways been the best win of his career, considering what Carl would (probably) have gone on to achieve.
It's all a bit sad really. Calzaghe should just let it go.
Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Carl's career would likely have gone in a very different direction, not picking up that title against Pascal, which he wouldn't have done having fought Calzaghe, he'd have likely missed out on the super six.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I personally think Calzaghe is looking back on his career with just a twinge of regret - and he's finding it hard to cope that Froch is now getting respect from pretty much every quarter.G0mez wrote:Joe's out of his face again obviously.Boxerbeetle wrote:Without wanting to spark yet another Froch / Calzaghe debate, they've been having a Twitter spat since last night, both slagging each other off & calling each other cowards. Quite likely, but I feel Carl is the type who would have found another route to the top - speculation of course, but he's not scared of adversity, and reacted well to his losses to Kessler and Ward.

I don't think Froch is a big enough star, and GGG doesn't bring enough star appeal either.
Froch v Groves II was an exceptional case - no fight has drawn as many as that In the UK since WWII .
That's not to say I won't generate a lot of money, just not that kind of attendance.

I think it could, golovkin playing the role of mysterious foreign assassin type and his impressive highlight reel I think the buzz from boxing fans would spill over into the general public like I said earlier a bit like Benn v Mcclellan and also froch v bute and calzaghe v lacy and Kessler, lets face it it would live up to the hype.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Maybe he is - but I think he's wrong - like I said, just my opinion.Tarkus wrote:Eddie is quite sure about it:jamesmcdonnell wrote: I can't see it doing 80,000 tickets - not in London, not anywhere really.

Re: Which fight makes Froch the most money?
Benn McClellan didn't fill Wembley, nor did any of those other fights. I think the biggest of those fights was Calzaghe v Kessler at the Millenium Stadium, but again, that's Joe fighting on very much home turf - I don't think Froch would pull those kind of numbers at a London venue.
Perhaps I'm wrong, who knows, I'll be happy to be wrong.
