Like who? Monroe? Proksa? Ishida? Rosado? I'm a fan of GGG but nobody wants to fight him. He is being dodged like the plague! He is fighting inferior fighters to keep himself ticking over so why not O'Sullivan? At least Spike would have the nuts to take the fight. In an ideal world I'd rather see GGG in with Canelo and O'Sullivan in with Eubank Jnr but nothing much ever goes to plan in our sport unfortunately!Horse wrote:O'Sullivan isn't even a top 30 ranked middleweight. The guys who do supposedly 'deserve' a shot at GGG don't want to know. GGG would absolutely destroy O'Sullivan.
Golovkin might have some difficulty getting the best to fight him, but I'm pretty sure he can find someone far more credible than O'Sullivan.
Spike wants Golovkin

They were all far more credible than O'Sullivan.Stuarty30 wrote:Like who? Monroe? Proksa? Ishida? Rosado?
He would be a laughably bad opponent. BoxRec has him ranked at 48th in the world.
Golovkin can find a lot better than O'Sullivan, there is no doubt about that.
Re: Spike wants Golovkin
I'm not saying that he can't but the way things are going at the moment means that these are the only type of guys that will fight him. if O'Sullivan is up for it then why not? And Ishida and Proksa are not more credible opponents than O'Sullivan. I think you're doing him a disservice there.Horse wrote:They were all far more credible than O'Sullivan.Stuarty30 wrote:Like who? Monroe? Proksa? Ishida? Rosado?

No, Golovkin will always be able to fight someone better than O'Sullivan.Stuarty30 wrote:I'm not saying that he can't but the way things are going at the moment means that these are the only type of guys that will fight him.
Because O'Sullivan is a joke.Stuarty30 wrote:if O'Sullivan is up for it then why not?
O'Sullivan is not credible at all at world level.Stuarty30 wrote:And Ishida and Proksa are not more credible opponents than O'Sullivan. I think you're doing him a disservice there.
You are giving him far too much credit. He's a lower top 10 British & Irish ranked fighter.

Where are the Kirkland or Sylvester equivalents on O'Sullivans record?Stuarty30 wrote:And Ishida and Proksa are not more credible opponents than O'Sullivan. I think you're doing him a disservice there.

A joke? Harsh! ishida and Proksa ain't a better calibre opponent than O'Sullivan! We could argue all day about records! Even a blind squirrel can find the occasional nut and that is the case with Ishida! Is Kerry Hope a better fighter than Spike? No! Does that matter on the grand scheme of things? Nope! He should be talked about as a domestic level fighter, then I wouldn't have to mock him.
O'Sullivan should be aiming for Macklin. If he can win that then he has a good chance of getting a fight against Lee.
Re: Spike wants Golovkin
So at world level he is 'a joke' but if he beats a shopworn Macklin then that merits him a shot at a world title? Bit contradictory!Horse wrote:At world level he is a joke.Stuarty30 wrote:A joke? O'Sullivan should fight Hope. That is the sort of opponent he should be fighting, not Golovkin.

Spike v Stevens would be good fun!palooka wrote:Spike v Macklin would be good fun, I wonder though if Spike could wrangle Andy Lee? Another couple of blowouts in Boston would get a bandwagon going. Spike v Curtis Stevens would be a real barnstormer.

Not really.Stuarty30 wrote:So at world level he is 'a joke' but if he beats a shopworn Macklin then that merits him a shot at a world title? Bit contradictory!
O'Sullivan has nothing close to as good as a Macklin win on his record.
Lee is also nowhere near as good as Golovkin.
Re: Spike wants Golovkin
Are you actually trying to tell me you think Hope is better than O'Sullivan? Really? Get a grip mate! Neither are world beaters but they are levels apart!Horse wrote:Hope has a better record than O'Sullivan.Stuarty30 wrote:We could argue all day about records! Re: Spike wants Golovkin
At middleweight nobody is as good as GGG! Lee is still a world champion and if O'Sullivan were to fight him he would be mixing in world class! Lee would whip him but to call the guy a joke is a bit much IMO.Horse wrote:Not really.Stuarty30 wrote:So at world level he is 'a joke' but if he beats a shopworn Macklin then that merits him a shot at a world title? Hope has beaten Hill and Proksa and was unlucky not to get the decisions against O'Kane and Borg.
O'Sullivan was lucky to get the decision against Hall and his most impressive win is against Fitzgerald.
They are pretty much on the same level and Hope would clearly be one of O'Sullivan's best wins if he could beat him.
Re: Spike wants Golovkin
O'Sullivan is a joke of an opponent for a world champion to fight, especially a top 10 P4P fighter like Golovkin.Stuarty30 wrote:At middleweight nobody is as good as GGG! If he beat Macklin then he would have a lot more credibility. Maybe enough to get the Lee fight, because of the Irish thing.

Re: Spike wants Golovkin
Golovkin wants Froch, Cotto or Canelo - O'Sullivan is absolutely nowhere near his radar, and quite rightly too.
Spike should be targeting Macklin or Murray.

Re: Spike wants Golovkin
Maybe he would get the Lee fight because of the Irish connection. I think that Lee will lose to BJS though so can't see it. Macklin was a good solid fighter and good to watch but he is well past his best. Spike should fight Eubank Jnr. I think he wants it so it's up to Eubank I suppose!Horse wrote:O'Sullivan is a joke of an opponent for a world champion to fight, especially a top 10 P4P fighter like Golovkin.Stuarty30 wrote:At middleweight nobody is as good as GGG! Re: Spike wants Golovkin
Macklin is still far better than anyone that O'Sullivan has beaten and he is still a far more credible fighter than O'Sullivan as well. I don't think many would be surprised if Macklin beat O'Sullivan fairly easily if they fought.Stuarty30 wrote:Maybe he would get the Lee fight because of the Irish connection. O'Sullivan is an English title level fighter (I know he's not eligible, but that's his level).
O'Sullivan would be a decent opponent for Eubank, but I'd expect Eubank to win clearly.

I agree Eubank would beat him clearly however I doubt Macklin would at this stage! I don't know what's more ridiculous....that this thread exists or that my post is the 47th?

I have just realised I have been sticking up for O'Sullivan something rotten! I don't particularly like the guy to be honest. I just respect him as a fighter.
