What the washed up version :?? because the Barkley that lost a split dec to Duran and ko'd Hearns at middleweight would have destroyed
Conteh and at any weight to boot. :OhYes:

I think of Barkley a bit like Tarver, somewhat like Norton a "boutique" fighter.

Specialty class......good for puttin a good whuppin' on the best of the best due to unusual style mismatching....but a little inconsistent otherwise.

Saw him vs. Darrin Van Horn in New York City. What a blow-out!

I remember in a TV interview before another fight, they asked him what foods he likes,
and he replied, "I like strawberries."

I like your analysis. It is spot on.

ok - how does conteh - almost a genuine heavyweight and a really good skilled fighter with a nasty and venomous punch (when his hands were good and healthy) lose to iran barkley? barkley who lost a split decision to a 2nd tier middleweight - duran

the tommy hearns fight only showed that hearns would not have coped well with genuinely bigger opponents (only very slow ones like dennis andries). bob foster wanted no part of conteh. whats barkley going to do?

Agree.

Barkley fit my concept of a real warrior. Hope he is doing okay nowadays.
He had a spell recently sleeping homeless on the subway but like the warrior he is got through it and now has his own apartment.he still trains still looks very tough.

Barkleys not inconsiderable boxing skills were neglected by iran after 1992.but the barkley of 84-89 could actually move and box quite well,he has a hell of a lot to offer as a trainer

It would be nice if Iran could make a decent living through training and get a stable and decent lifestyle for himself, he ought to be more recognised - he was someone who earned every cent.
