A PROVEN CHIN!!

Post by KBB »

Ok, it's time to fess up and give props to arguably one of the best chins in boxing to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He has taken many of the best fighter's best shots:

SSM-hit him as flush as he's ever hit anyone and couldn't knock him down or out, he hit Margarito (who supposedly had one of the best chins in boxing) and put him to sleep but he was unable to even knock Mayweather off his feet despite hitting him a couple of times with the same shot.

Manny Pacquiao-stunned Floyd in two separate rounds and couldn't knock him down or out, we all know how he slept Hatton in devastating fashion, how he made Algieri eat the canvas 6 times, knocked down JMM (who has a great chin) several times in several different bouts, broke Margo's orbital bone, knocked down SSM (something very few has managed to do), put Cotto on the canvas with a wicked uppercut from a crazy angle....I could go on and on but yet, he never made Floyd come remotely close to falling despite hitting him twice with his best punches.

Maidana-caught Floyd with a huge right hand in their first fight and though it was at the end of the round and a shot that came out of nowhere that even the best defensive fighter in boxing did not see, he still took it and came out strong the very next round. This is the same Chino that has pasted other fighters with that same right hand but yet he couldn't knock Floyd off his feet unless he used a UFC double-leg takedown.

I'm sure I can go on and on with fighters who have put others out of their misery (Judah, Hatton, Gatti, DLH, Corrales, Castillo, etc., etc.) but the point is already proven so there's no way we cannot argue that he doesn't have one of the best beards this sport has seen in recent years.

Yes, he did but what happened in that very same round? Did he knock him down or out? Who ended up on the canvas after that??

My mistake, I thought we were talking about Mayweather's chin? I would have thought mentioning the fight in which he was most hurt and managed to ride it out was of some significance.

Floyd's chin is undoubtedly good, but his defense is so good that he hasn't had to take a lot of flush punches for someone with such a long career. Based on the available evidence, I don't think his chin is in the league of Hagler's, but he definitely has a good set of whiskers.

Yes, you made your point and I agree, I just wanted to point that out as further testimony to his chin and how well it stood up to that pain.

Why does it hurt you so much to say anything good about Floyd? Why do you constantly have to ruin threads about Floyd and Manny? (even though this isn't about Packy at all)

Wow, you are in need of some serious psychological counseling or help, some serious anger issues going on inside you my man.

You could just take it as a sign that it might be a good time to cool it a bit with the Mayweather threads.

I mean, you won't, but you could.

I think Floyd is much tougher than most believe him to be, he's been clever enough not to trade on it though, he's been a pro nearly 20 years and not really been hurt badly more than a few times and regardless of ducking etc he has faced some very good fighters.

Who said i'm hurt you want to turn Boxrec into a Mayweather fan club? We get it, you love the guy more than the bitch that bore you. This thread is a joke, it's no secret Floyd has an iron chin, it's 2015 not 2002.

Now you go from insulting me to call my mother a bitch, way to go and show how hurt you really are. Very mature, very respectful.

Have a nice day angry man.

Floyd got a good chin, he has been caught by a few guys with solid shots and never wavered. Always came back strong

Floyd has a good chin no doubt, but it's the way he covers up and his defence when stunned that make him so damn hard to put down. I remember during the pacquaio fight when manny was wailing away on him after he stunned him, may weather just covered up so well and manny couldn't penetrate that defence for shit.
