The Definitive Poll - Are You Buying the May 30th PPV?

Post by Boxerbeetle »

The hour is nearly upon us...The time is almost nigh...

As usual for me, the closer it gets to the event, the harder it is to resist. A few days ago I was 100% not getting the PPV, now I'm probably 70%-30% not getting it & I fear I'm getting weaker everyday.

Anyone else feeling the urge to give into temptation? It's a proper Catch-22 situation - plenty of pros & cons on either side (actually I might do a Silicon Valley inspired SWOT analysis before making a conclusive decision).

Thought a definitive final poll would be an interesting indicator of where things are going.

I didn't crumble for the Clev v Bellew fight (I went fishing)

Was so relieved and quite proud I didn't

I will be doing the same Saturday

Buying it just means Sky will do it again

Neither did I. I had absolutely no intention of ordering it. So I didn't.

However, this is a show I'd quite like to watch, so may still crumble. At the moment, though, I'm thinking I'll just catch the Sky TV bill. Reward the promoter who wants to give us free boxing.

Even if I do order the PPV, I may leave the freeview TV in my bedroom running on silent, just to give Spike TV the viewing figures.

No I won't. I refuse to buy any PPV event, I am not being conned like a mug anymore. Regardless of that, it's not even THAT GOOD a card.

Innit.

I can remember when the Tyson-Bruno II fight first went that way; little did I realise people would one day be paying for a couple of European title fights, a couple of decent "Who's the fifth best in the division then?" kinda title bouts & the modern version of Lennox Lewis versus Jean Chanet.

fornicate that for a game of soldiers.

I've decided for definite today....NO

Don't get me wrong its a great card I don't dispute that and if we had been receiving decent enough cards leading up to this I'd have no problem with paying (on top of the £20 odd a month I pay for Sky Sports) even after already paying £19.95 this month.

But we've not! Hearn has put on pretty much god awful cards for the whole of this year basically so anything any good can be saved for this card for his/Skys extra £16.95. In my view we've already paid! We were'nt given a discount on the subscription for the awful weeks were we so pay more for a good week? No chance.

It'll be hard as I really wanna watch some of the fights, but if you pay for this next time he puts on 6 months of shit cards to put ONE good one and charges you extra for it don't come crying to me!

No way, I gave the Clev one a miss too - first time I've missed a PPV apart from a couple of crap Tyson ones I think ( Etienne ?? )
these are the sort of fights Sky should be showing as part of our subscription - no need to put them all on one night - the Selby fight should be in Wales, as a stand along Saturday night fight...same with the other two, and Josh on the undercard

Not a chance I'm paying for a card with Brook v Gavin as the main event. It's really got beyond a joke.

I don't even see how this sells to the casual fans.

We are coming to the end of May and being asked to pay for the 2nd PPV event of 2015. Ok, May-Pac was a must for most people, but this card?

Most casual fans won't have heard of Selby or very little of Mitchell, never-mind their opponents on Saturday night.

I bet we get at least 1 more PPV before the years out as well. DeGale has a belt now, so you can see it coming. Brook, DeGale, Quigg, Selby and Mitchell(should they both win), all in knockover jobs and there you go, 17 nicker me ole son, best night of boxing the planet has ever seen!

It's not the £17 for me that is a problem but the principal and where we are going.

In saying all that, I will be watching all the fights and not paying another shedding penny.

As will I. I've cancelled Sky Sports and even if I win the lottery I wouldn't get it back.

2 ppv in a month is a fcukin outrage. Completely unjustifiable, regardless of how many world title fights are on the card.

I wondered exactly the same - it's why I left the option for people to change their votes. Reckon there could be a big swing towards Yes come fight night.

Not me. In fact I've finally cancelled Sky Sports after a few months of thinking about. Weak watered down cards becoming the norm with anything half decent going the PPV route. Hearn is talking up far too many of his fighters as "superstars" & it looks like most will be going to be shown on PPV for future bouts regardless of opposition.

I'm a big fan of Kell's and am very pleased that he has come back from his attack and is making up for lost time. That being said, I don't think this fight is pay-per-view worthy, although I certainly don't begrudge him or his team of a good pay day.

Normally, I prefer to watch a fight at home as I enjoy the build up and commentary, but won't pay for this one (didn't watch the Bellow-Cleverely rematch) and will watch it down the pub instead. It is a good fight, with an interesting bill, but it is not one that gets the juices flowing like Tyson-Holyfield/Bruno/Lewis or Mayweather -Pacquaio/Delahoya etc, in my humble opinion.

I will order it. I am looking forward to this card more than I was looking forward to Mayweather v Pacquiao. I am usually in with the Mrs and kids at weekend so the boxing when it's on is the highlight of my weekend lol. I can understand why a lot of folk are snubbing it though. It's another case of a good card with no PPV worthy fights or fighters on it. Regardless of that fact I think it will be a good nights viewing.

I'm gonna be honest, I am buying it.

Regardless of previous PPV events, this one I have an interest in so I want to watch it. Not bothered about the AJ fight but most of the others I am and I think it will be a good event all round.

Just my opinion but yes i'll be buying it.
