If John David Jackson is Algieri trainer for this one than expect a much improved showing from Algieri, This time around he'll be on a even
playing field when it comes to his cornermen so to speak and i'd imagine this training camp with a BOXING EXPERT IN JACKSON would have
primed Algeiri for the UPSET.......................SORRY BUT NO CIGAR FOR AMIR THIS TIME
By the way, Khan did land a good bodyshot early on Maidana, and made him take a knee, but other than that did no damage.
His KO of Judah is tainted. He was outclassing Judah, and got him out of the game somewhat early with a headbutt, but I did think at the time Judah would come back later in the fight. Khan's KO punch was one that was low, and delivered while holding Judah's head down with his forearm on the back of Judah's neck. It was not a legal punch, and action should have continued. Watch the video if you don't believe me. Not that Judah would have came back and won, but hate to see a fight end on something illegal.
Khan has great talent, and has shown flashes of greatness. If the Khan shows up that nearly lost (and should have) against Diaz, he might lose. If Khan wins, it will be a win against Algieri, which basically means nothing at welterweight. This fight is a no-win situation for Khan.
Khan by TKO. Realistically that Pacquiao fight could have been stopped, Algieri was lucky to get out of the Provodnikov fight as well. I don't think Khan puts Algieri's lights out, but would actually consider it a relatively safe bet to pick Khan to win by TKO. I just feel Khan is the far superior fighter and will have his way with Algieri, Khan will be scoring up the middle all night and you will see Algeiri's defense as ineffective and Khan will be catching him and having him like a deer in head lights.
I think Khan will come out picking his shots and fighting a smart fight early. He will have Algieri broken down and busted up by the 5th round due to Algieri simply not being able to do anything offensively to stop Khan from having his way. Khan will come on strong in the second half, get a knock down early in one of the later rounds, step on the gas and the fight will be stopped.
This just isn't a competitive fight and style wise I can't think of a fight against a live opponent that posses less of threat than Algieri does to Khan. It's a joke of a fight.
