Khan stopping Algieri

Most would agree that Khan is the big favorite, but can he stop Algieri?

Algieri is no great shakes but he's done 12 rounds with both Provodnikov & Pacquiao, so I can't see Khan stopping him.

I think Khan stops him. Provodnikov and Pac have Taken it to him on his step up to world level. Though neither of those guys are considered formidable punchers at welterweight.

He's shown he can be hurt but he's shown a lot of heart. Still feel Khan will overwhelm him.

Algeri is a kick boxer by trade - he won't be KO'd unless it's a TKO on cuts or something

I am surprised about how many people are favoring the stoppage. Not only Algieri showed a great chin against aggressive punchers but also Khans style is very defensive under Hunter.

Don't kickboxers get ko'd?

Chris Algieri has clearly hit the lottery with that win over Provodnikov. Two big time fights as a result of that win but i just don't think that he's even close to the elite level the best in the division have to offer. I hope it's a good fight but i can't see Algieri beating Khan but we all know with Amir, victory is just one punch away regardless.

I see this one going to the cards and Amir winning in similar fashion to the Collazo fight. Every round.

I think the key ingredient that Khan has that Provodnikov and the current version of Manny lack is footspeed.

He'll be able to close the gap quickly on Algeri which gives him less time to run away and avoid the punches. An accumulation late stoppage not unlike the Khan-Malignaggi fight is on the cards.

What reasoning do you have regarding kick boxing background being a benefit to not being stopped?

I'm strongly fancying a Khan KO win tomorrow, don't get me wrong Algieri's tough as boots but I don't think he'll be able to cope with Khan's speed, power and accuracy, Chris is no slouch but Amir's speed is on another level,I think Khan will be bang up for this,I know he's been looking smarter last couple fights but I think Algieri's lack of power will be enough to tempt the old Khan out plus the fact he hasn't had a KO in a while and he's took a lot of stick for this match up so I'm sure he'll be in a mean mood to look explosive, going 1 better than Pacquiao is another incentive to go for the stoppage

Algieri hearing the final bell wouldn't exactly shock me but I've a sneaky feeling this will be another improvement from Khan who by now surely must be at his peak

On the other hand, Algieri has reasonably fast hands himself, doesn't he? If Khan finds himself getting reckless, he could be the one getting stopped - if Limond can put him down heavily, there's absolutely no reason Algieri can't do the same.

Yeah that's definitely a possibility too,Limond is an even lighter puncher than Algieri,

That was a long time ago and even though there will always be doubts over Khans chin he's taken full blooded shots from the likes of Maidana.

Algieri is a tidy boxer but his record barring his last 2 fights is piss poor, fighting virtual unknowns 10 mins from his front door. I cannot
See him springing a surprise here.

Khan's last proper stoppage was Malignaggi at 140.

Judah bitched out about 4 years ago, saying it was a low blow, but otherwise he's not looked close to halting anyone.

Being honest, whilst I peg Amir as the favourite, if anyone's getting knocked out it's him.

He dropped maidana in the second round in their fight, not many fighters would have got up from that.

I have money on Khan points at 11/8. Only chance of a stoppage I can see is if he catches Algieri cold early and overwhelms him to force the referee to call it off or, the higher chance, if Algieri's corner pulls him out late. It's not the same idiot that let him take his licks and more against Manny. Algieri points at 16/1 and the draw at 33/1 are probably worth small hedges in case Chris manages to get his timing down against Amir.

A few guys rightly pulled me up for my comment about Algeri not being stopped because he's a kick boxer by trade. I should have expanded on that..of course kick boxers can get KOd but Algeri is pretty tough and to go with the conditioning required to be a KB I find it unlikely that Khan gets him outbid there.

I'm actually looking forward to the fight now - Amir wins but I think Algeri will be game

i doubt a clear ko, but i can see the ref waving it off after a bloodied nose and a few knockdowns.

Algieri is tough. He doesn't have the speed or skills that Khan has but he can take a beating. Maybe the ref will jump in and stop the fight when Khan goes in with one of his flurries but I don't see it being a genuine stoppage where Algieri has to be saved. Then again if Khan has 10 rounds in the bag and Algieri isn't doing very much, the ref could just wave the fight off. Therefore stoppage is a possibility but KO very unlikely.

Algieri is probably still only a LWW but he can't keep turning down these opportunities at WW,his slippery style can probably bamboozle this version of Garcia down at 140
