Khan stopping Algieri

Maybe Mayweather will be a bit more tempted to take the fight with Khan now? Not that I think Khan deserves it but he must be in Floyds thoughts.

I have a feeling Floyd might be saving Khan for his 50th & final fight - would probably be one of the few fights Floyd could win by ko.

Yeah possibility. i do think Khan would cause problems for Floyd but doubt he'd beat him.

I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention to the commentary but I though I heard Barry Jones say he had Algieri 4-1 up after 5 then Khan well ahead after 9?

May have misheard him.

That clown Barry Jones made his mind up in round 1, although tbf that seems to be a trait of all boxing commentary these days. Ruins fights for me. He had Khan up 4-1 through 5 which was ridiculous imo, I had Algieri 3-2 up and BJ practically had it a shutout.

how many feather fisted fighters are left out there for khan to fight? the realitie is that khan found his level here tonight. he, s a decent fighter, but doesnt have the brains to use his advantages in speed. if he was fighting a half decent welter who could crack, he wouldve been gone tonight. hes gotta fight thurman or brook, the new generation of top end welters , to have any credibility. and we know what would happen there. on a plus note , i think algieri can be the new malignaggi, an eloquent white new york fighter who can go the distance with the top guys without being dangerous enough to derail them. i hope he makes lots of money,cos he sounds like a nice level headed guy.

khan was going on about being the great boxer, but he struggled last night against a guy with zero amateur experience and only 20 pro fights. mayweather even at 55 would stand him on his head. its a joke that so many go on about khan having a chance with mayweather.

Very bias. I had it 6-3 Algieri having missed rounds 9/10/11.

Algieri couldn't miss last night, Hunter was going mad, massive looping right hands, time and time again, lead left hooks, ripped the body... everything Algieri through when in range was landing, Khan seem incapable of slipping a punch.

I think they want Floyd so badly because of how inactive Floyd is and has no interest on fighting on the inside, it's a massive pay day with a relatively low KO risk.

If Khan takes this Pacquaio option for Dubai he'll get smashed to absolute pieces.

Khan kicked off screaming and shouting at a journalist just before this fight, because "it was the journalists constantly asking about Mayweather" - that he himself doesn't bring it up.

Beats Algieri and immediately calls out Mayweather.

I've got no idea why they ever gave him a commentry gig. I once watched a fight where he had no idea how to score a round when a fighter had a point taken off. He thought because it was a "10 point must system" a fighter loses the round 10-9 even if he wins the round... i mea he was a boxer himself, surely to fffffff he's seen a score card before with 9-9 on it.

I'm not sure what fight some of you were watching I only gave Algeri 3 rounds. Khan easily outlanded him with clean shots in the majority of rounds.

Algeri was throwing some big shots (for him) but most of them weren't landing, he landed a few eye catching ones. You only had to look at Algeri's face at the end of the fight to see who was landing the clean shots.

Virgil hunter was in the corner and even told Khan it was pretty much a shut out at one point saying something along the lines of "he's making it tough but your still winning the rounds".

The rounds were closer than my scoring would suggest but they were still easy rounds to score.

Great comments from Khan included "This is the best Algieri we've seen in a long time" and my personal favourite "He had a big chin tonight"

I didn't see it that way, although I had Khan winning 115-113 (1,4,5,6,9,10,12). 6,9,11 and 12 were very close and could have gone either way.

Both boxed well making each other miss the vast majority of their shots. Many of Khan's patented flurries missed Algieri entirely.

Watched it this morning and scored it 8-4 Khan. There was some close rounds in there, so I can see it being a lot closer on some cards.

Hardly a dominant performance and it really highlighted how far away Khan is from where he thinks he is. There's a lot of fellas at and around the weight that I'd favour to give him a pasting.

A closer fight than most predicted. Algieri came to win and made Khan work hard for the win. Khan is very good but like Ricky Hatton not in the elite club. Fighting Mayweather would be a joke. Mayweather would win on points without a doubt. Kell Brook should get the call.
