Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Anyone think AJ will be in for an early night?
My thoughts are that johnson, coming off 3 losses has seen the best days now and I think he Joshua will be up for a quick nights work. I dont think the fight will go further than the 3rd.
Im having a fiver on AJ in the 3rd 5/1 with William Hill. I was going to stick the fiver on a group round bet 1 to 3 at 5/4 but no price worth getting excited over.
I dont think it will go to points, no I can see yet another quick stoppage.

I think Joshua will stop him but not that early. I think he'll want to get some rounds in and show a bit of patience and pick him off before putting it on Johnson. Can see the ref stepping in regardless of wether it's a correct stoppage or not at some point!

I can see Joshua finishing Johnson early and I can see Gavin going the same way as Dan too

Not sure if it'll be inside 3 rounds, but I'd be very surprised if Joshua doesn't win by stoppage.

I think it'll go the distance. Johnson is nothing if not durable and as he's entering the journeyman stage of his career, he'll fight hard to preserve that reputation.
Stupid bet of the day, I put £5 on Johnson to win in round 9 at 150/1

Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Don't think so, not sure Joshua is the devastating puncher he's made out to be - it'll be a great win if he genuinely whacks out Johnson, but more likely a points win
Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
I reckon Johnson might just surprise us by throwing some punches. If he does well there might be another pay cheque for him down the line. I think AJ will come through some hairy moments to win on pts.
Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Hopefully Johnson can take AJ more than 6 rounds and actually hits AJ back, would be nice to see how AJ reacts? I wouldn't be surprised if he demolishes Johnson inside 2 though? we will see!

I don't think Joshua hits has hard as he and some people think. I'm taking him on points and for the last 5/6 rounds to be completely boring.

It looks like IJL will be the referee? Definitely won't go the distance, he'll panic & stop the fight by mistake as soon as a clean punch lands.

IJL? I've been robbed of my extreme longshot £5.
AJ by premature stoppage in 5.

boxing fans need to appreciate we have a future world champion in the midst of a washed up division. AJ maynot be best next comiong of Christ but he is the best in his weight class in the UK and if not Europe. The heavyweight division is full of jokers who are dodging everyone to get a world title shot. Get that belt and you are in the big time. AJ will clean up this division he will stop the likes of Price and Fury. Price will not last a round, Fury will be lucky to get 3 rounds.
Call me deluded, and im sure some will but AJ is going to be a world champion within the next 5 or 6 fights.

I absolutely agree. The only fighters capable of giving AJ an argument are Klitscho and Wilder. Fury may get through 2 or 3 rounds with him but then it would be over. AJ needs better opponents than the ones he has fought to prepare him for a title shot late next year. He will be avoided that's for sure and that may hold back his progress.mimmy123 wrote:boxing fans need to appreciate we have a future world champion in the midst of a washed up division. Respect to Joshua. For 12 years fighters including Vitali Klitschko have been trying to stop Kingpin and until Joshua none had succeeded.

Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Someone has suggested a big fight in September for AJ. Could it be a title shot so soon? Or a domestic fight for a Brit to cash in before their retirement. I could well believe a Price farewell, but in my opinion Price will dive in 1, take the money and run.

I wonder what AJ's WBC ranking will be after this. Johnson isn't ranked but he's certainly a gatekeeper

Not to call it an early stoppage, Johnson would've been given more time in America.Like a Boss wrote:Respect to Joshua. For 12 years fighters including Vitali Klitschko have been trying to stop Kingpin and until Joshua none had succeeded.
Joshua reminds me of the pre-Thompson Haye - he looks awesome, but I suspect stamina issues. Haye seemed to improve his training after Thompson, focusing a bit less on power in order to bring his fitness up. Joshua might not be chinny out of the gates, but all boxers are when they're tired.
I can't fault his performance last night, but those questions have yet to be answered. I look forward to following his progress.

Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Well Joshua certainly seems a heavy handed powerhouse, steamrolling what looked like a comparatively small middleweight last night - and the good news is the HW division is a deserted ghost town these days..I think Eddie might be brave enough to put him in with Thompson next. Maybe we'll see if the big man has got the stamina to carry that muscle past 6 rounds then...
Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Joshua .... He reminds me of Frank Bruno , only due to more limited opponents he will probably do better .

I was in a pub watching the fight last night and Dillian Whyte was in there....he is well up for the fight and I think that's a proper fight for Joshua. If he's as good as suggested he will win, but at least he will be put under some pressure and it will be interesting. Whyte I believe from what he said, promotes himself so wont be a difficult one for Fast car to sort out....
Re: Joshua inside 3 rounds?
Tyson Fury will be shitting his pants after that.
