Champ for just 3 months

Post by cybox »

Robert "Bam Bam" Hines won the IBF 154lbs title from Matthew Hilton and then 3 months later lost the title to Darren Van Horn. Bam Bam only got to taste the life of a champion for 3 months. What are some shorter title reigns?

The Dane, Waldemar Holberg, is probably the most forgotten champion of all time.
He won the vacant welterweight championship by beating Ray Bronson over 20 rounds on January 1, 1914.
23 days later, January 24, he lost the title by foul to Tom McComick.
I would think that has to be the shortest and most forgotten title reign ever.
I don't even think Holberg is a known name in Denmark today. Maybe some of the Danes on this forum can fill us in here?

Julio Gonzalez was WBO and lienar 175 lb champion for a mere 3 months. I dont think he deserved the decision agaisnt an old Michalczewski, but agaisnt a young Erdei he was absolutely outboxed and humiliated.
