We could do the same thing with Manny, Marquez and a few still excellent boxers.ikorolev wrote:When a boxer is so "unlucky", it means that he just lacks something. In Khan's case, it is a chin.fergusg wrote: In my mind, Khan was unfortunate to:

Re: King Khan
Khan won close, but damn... that didn't impress me. He said he wants to do it better than Pacquiao? He didn't. Don't want to see him against Floyd either. Feed him to Thurman.

What a fornicating dumbass "that guy was unlucky getting knocked the fornicate out"
Re: King Khan
"he's also the biggest money fight available for Floyd."
Nice post, but....
Is there really any reason to discuss any other factors than this one? The only one that matters...

Re: King Khan
My thoughts exactly. Algieri is a tough, strong guy, but I didn't see that fight as being all that competitive in the end.Ian1973 wrote:Khan won by by four or five rounds.
I don't know what some of you lot were watching.
Re: King Khan
Road kill doesn't become champion and have a strong resume like Khan has.Tanzio wrote:Too wide. Khan remains road kill waiting to happen.
Algieri is one tough, skilled boxer.
He has a strong offence and a weak defence.
Many boxers like him. Nothing New
Re: King Khan
Normally the person that is the most qualified also has the ability. If they don't, they're not.
So, let's just say Khan vs Mayweather is a good fight ........on paper.

Re: King Khan
I always wondered what happened to Joe Pasquale.
Re: King Khan
did not enjoy the fight, Algieri is a tough punch bag , to make fighters look good, khan did not impressed
Re: King Khan
I think Floyd's fight purse will fluctuate only mildly among Khan, Brook and Thurman, but the last two got a title and 0 in their "L" column.fergusg wrote:My comments are in the context of Amir Khan being the best qualified opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr.ikorolev wrote:When a boxer is so "unlucky", it means that he just lacks something. So I'm not going to engage in a discussion about his ability, because I feel that he is not only "good enough" to pose a decent challenge to Money May, but also has the best resume and presents the biggest purse, compared to all the other welterweights that could face Floyd.

I'm sorry, Brook? As in Kell Brook?ikorolev wrote:I think Floyd's fight purse will fluctuate only mildly among Khan, Brook and Thurman, but the last two got a title and 0 in their "L" column.fergusg wrote:My comments are in the context of Amir Khan being the best qualified opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr.ikorolev wrote: When a boxer is so "unlucky", it means that he just lacks something. Whereas Guerrero and Ortiz were worldwide, crossover media stars whose names are constantly on the lips of the general public?
Re: King Khan
Khan has been roadkill before and he will be returning to play that part again relatively soon.observer1 wrote:Road kill doesn't become champion and have a strong resume like Khan has.Tanzio wrote:Too wide. Khan remains road kill waiting to happen.

While Khan's defense is not great, it is his chin that makes him roadkill waiting to happen. No matter how many times a cat crosses the freeway successfully, it is not a car.
Khan is destined to be run over, again, and it won't have anything to do with luck.
Re: King Khan
It doesn't matter. Did many people know who Maidana was before fighting Floyd ? When Floyd fights somebody, with decent promotion that boxer becomes known immediately. The only person who could really add to Floyd's purse at WW is Manny.observer1 wrote:ikorolev wrote:I'm sorry, Brook? Re: King Khan
There is no more overrated boxer than Amir Khan.
Brook or Thurman would stop him, I think even Broner or Porter would knock him out. Garcia already has.

Re: King Khan
I've made an argument in the past for Amir giving Floyd a very hard night
But on that showing against Algieri he loses by a very wide UD.
I still stand by Khans attribute making him a good mesh style wise for Floyd and if he fights at his best giving Floyd a real test but he needs to be a lot better than he was this weekend.
In fact if he didn't up his game Brook would beat him on that showing
