Yet another howler from IJL !!

Post by ppb »

Should've taken count at end of 1st. Not help Johnston to his feet then was way too late in stopping the contest in 2nd.

I think the reason there was no count was because the knockdown punch was after the bell.

If that was the case why no reprimand for Joshua ?

I'd rather fights went on that bit longer so as you get a conclusive result.

Much prefered ijl's performance over that clown howard foster.

In way too early again and not giving the fighter ahead on the cards a chance to survive and recover.

After watching it again I thought the Ryder stoppage was decent. He was out on his feet and had took several solid shots unanswered. We'd all like to see a more conclusive result but it's a guys health and possibly life on the line. I wouldn't fancy having that responsibility. Johnson should have been pulled out by his corner after the first.

Joshua should have been deducted two points for hitting after the bell.

IJL either tries to ensure we have a fatality in the ring, or he stops too early.

He is truly incompetent

I said this. He has 2 choices of which he did neither. He either warns Joshua for punching after the bell and gives Johnson as long as is required to recover or he counts Johnson out whilst on the floor

The Board are the one's really incompetent by allowing this to happen time and time again.

Also had Mitchell up by SIX against Linares, meaning he gave Linares only two rounds.

85-85 and 86-84 Mitchell

It was anywhere from an even fight to Mitchell by a pair in my opinion, so I think that 88-82 Mitchell is extremely generous to him; Linares could've scored three knockdowns to win the 10th, 11th, and 12th 10-8 and he still wouldn't have taken the fight on IJL's card.

Yes i have just watched it again and he actually appeared to wave the fight off while Johnson was laying under the bottom rope, then he changed his mind and helped him get up  should have been stopped there and then but instead he allowed him back out for more :shame:

The whole thing was a total mess.

KJ was out of it on the floor at end of round 1.

Either Joshua should have been DQ'd for knocking him out after the bell (because KJ wasn't making a count at that point and there's no saved by the bell),

Or, if the punch was legal (on the bell) then KJ should have been DQ'd because his seconds came in the ring. Same thing happened Kirkland vs Molina, bell rang with Molina being counted, his seconds entered the ring with the stool and he was DQ'd.

IJL is like the Mr. Bean of boxing officials.
