Alfredo Angulo vs Delray Raines

Post by cletomex »

Happening on Saturday on PBC undercard. Angulo has lost last 3. Perro is awful (amazing to see videos of his quickness and sharpness in the amateurs to what he has now become). Raines wins this??

Angulo is past it, but atleast he lost to good opponents. Lara & Alvarez, and De la Rosa isn't too bad either. Combined record of 50-4. This Raines has a dozen losses, and he got knocked out by a local fighter i know. KO-Ratio less than 30%, and lost (stopped once) to guys with a record of 23-9. Even a 50yr old Angulo should beat Raines.

It's pretty sad that a guy like Angulo doesn't have 1 person in his life that loves him enough to tell him the truth. IT'S OVER. You are just taking years off your life with every punch at this point. He will never sniff another title fight and is more likely to be slirring by the age of 40.

I just hope Boxing steps in makes sure he passes the essential medical tests to step into that ring again.

Just guessing.. but I bet Angulo still has enough left to take out Delray.

You're probably right. I think I was drinking the Paris, AR Kool-Aid when I made this thread.

Angulo has lost to 1 guy who wasnt elite level - De La Rosa, and he's a good fighter himself. Angulo will kill Raines. Probably a 1st round KO.

if I can get 12-1 or better on Raines count me in. Angulo is 33 going on 45. With that being said he should win

I swore not to post here again.Since it turned into such a hater Haven about 10 years ago lol but I'll just throw out a few words and be on my way cuz I got a busy schedule today for the fight tomorrow here in California. Its funny to me that people talk about the guy from England possibly fighting Mayweather & at one time he got a draw against Carson Jones.About the same time Delray got a draw against Carson Jones when Jones was traing for the Margarito fight before it fell out ...Back then D-ray was a fun-loving pothead who took the fight on less than 10 days notice while having to lose almost 30 pounds just to make the weight. But now Delray knows the odds makers are against him because of mistakes we both made in his previous career when he was a dumb kid.But he is a grown man now with much responsibility and knows a win tomorrow could change his life. So yea maybe the haters will win and can talk tough about how fat I look on TV and how stupid my kid looks cause he lost participating in a sport that he loves, while they are setting in the dark in their mom's basement or just maybe tomorrow The California Sun will shine down on Team Rainmaker and make a wonderful bright shiny day :-)

Can`t hate on Delray for that loss. He gave a far better showing than anyone of us could of expected.

I personally thought he would never see the second round.

Got knocked down got up, fought his ass off the best he could.

Got mad respect for Delray even in a loss.

The fight went about as I expected. Delray won the early rounds and got fatigued in the middle of the fight.

Delray is a far better fighter than most give him credit for -- he's quite tough and very large for 160 pounds. He also has some solid skills. The problem is that he's taken a lot of short notice fights (which are where many of his losses are from) and he tends to run out of steam. Hopefully he got a solid payday out of the fight.

Am I the only one that thought Raines lacked some heart in there? Yes hes tired, didn't have time to train, etc, etc but when the going got tuff...he just accepted defeat. You have fighters that are flopping around in that ring from exhaustion but give it their all until the very end...didn't see that from Raines. He just threw in the towel.
BJ Flores was kinda saying the same thing. Raines didn't look tremendously hurt, he just kinda gave in.

As I recall one of the reasons Raines originally hung up the gloves is that he had some pretty bad facial fractures in the past. He got hit with some flush shots (particularly the last one) in this fight. Hard to say how much those actually hurt given past injuries.

Kirkland and Canelo beat the life out of Angulo. I'm not even sure he would beat Harry Yorgey right now if they fought again. He definitely wouldn't beat Rosado.
