Ernie Lopez v Jesse Armenta

Boxrec has Ernie 'Indian Red' Lopez losing to Jesse Armenta in Hermosillo, Mexico on July 4, 1964. I've always questioned this result. Everything I've read on him shows that he was undefeated before his loss to Don Minor in December of '64. I did a little more research on this and I read an article from August of that year mentioning how Lopez has been inactive since his win over Joe Clark (prior to the supposed Armenta fight) due to a bad cut he sustained in that bout. I believe I have an explanation for this. Fighting in Vegas (where Indian Red was fighting out of) and Hermosillo at this time was a Mexican fighter named Ernesto Lopez. I tend to believe this is who Armenta fought, not Indian Red.

I just looked it up again. It was actually the September 10, 1964 issue of the Las Vegas Sun, if this is a help.
