Yeah. Anyone that tipped Groves to beat Froch - like me for example - can't really be going around now saying that Degale (who lost to Groves, twice) would "do" Carl Froch. You don't just "do" Froch. Groves got on top of him nice and early with a bang and it wasn't enough. And it's not often Degale looks good for an entire fight - but, he does seem to rise to an occasion.
As it stands however, I have to go with Froch on this one. And I'm not entirely convinced that Froch will be up for fighting him - he said he wasn't up for Groves. There again, Groves wasn't putting a belt on the table, Degale is.
Froch would still get to him, even at 38. De gale didn't impress me greatly against Dirrell, he doesn't have the killer instinct and I would predict fairly similar outcome to the Groves second fight.
I think if Carl has been ticking over and keeping for then he probaly drags degale into a dark place and drops him like he did with groves.
Like others have said groves dropped him and dropped him hard, he got up saw the round out,was visibly buzzed often for the next 5 rounds but still managed to recover and get on top.
I'd say the same happens against degale, he is losing and then just doesn't disappear and ends up stopping degale
As I said on another thread, Degale has the ability to catch Froch, to frustrate him and win rounds.
He also has the power to wobble him.
I just can't help thinking he coasts through periods of fights and he simply will not get away with that against a fit, top form Carl Froch.
Maybe Degale does have a hard, non-stop 12 rounder in him. But i've yet to see evidence of it and if there are any issues with stamina or workrate, Carl will take over in this fight and either stop him late of do enough in the mid-late rounds to take a decision and leave degale battered and bruised.

He's stopped doing that so much of late do you not think? I read that he was carrying an injury and used to adopt that tactic as a necessity? I think DeGale would beat Froch. I said it before the Dirrell fight and I believe it even more so now. I still don't think we've seen the best of DeGale.

Froch, who'd dismissed the fight, seems to have changed his mind to a degree.
Chunky did get the win, without his usual southpaw advantage, away from home. Vs a quick and difficult guy, dirrell. While cut. And we know a fighter can improve after winning title belts - so he's better than he looked. But with things to work on like concentration, workrate and not squandering a huge advantage.
I see the natural course of things degale continuing the groves rivalry particularly if groves beats Jack. Froch has done the uk grudge match to death, beating groves who already holds a 12 round win over degale, but of course this fight will sell so a very real possibility - especially if froch v golovkin isn't made.
Froch's longevity has been remarkable mainly because he's kept his weight under control and despite the wars and the punches taken, he doesn't take many sustained attacks because he usually responds by backing up the guy who was beating on him.

I think that if GGG is tricky in negotiating, this fight is probably quite likely, as it's easy to hype and sell, with DeGale also being a Londoner even better for a Wemberrrleee event.

I'm sure most people would agree with that, i'd take it further and say i think he has the potential to become a much better fighter than he is now, but i dont see him improving much more if he stays with Jim McDonnell. I think a switch of trainer (and conditioning coach if he does not already have one) could potentially do wonders for DeGale right now. No offence to Jim, i'm just not sure he can develop DeGale further. Apparantly he is super tight with JM however and would never consider moving on from him.
