Who is the most intimidating boxer on the planet now?
Re: Who is the most intimidating boxer on the planet now?
Kovalev has actually killed a guy in the ring. And doesn't seem to have lost any willingness to try to hurt his more recent opponents. That would be in the back of my mind.

what about this guy???????

Re: Who is the most intimidating boxer on the planet now?
Beterbiev for me. I'd hate to have to fight that guy and even on the street I'd bet he just has that 'I will kill you' look.

Floyd Mayweather...

I think the only logical vote would be Wilder or Joshua at this point. Those two guys could end it for most anyone. Kovalev would run and hide, GGG would cry.

But, Kovalev is intimidated by 3G.LancashireLoyal wrote:if going off appearance and not ability then Alfredo Angulo
otherwise its Kovalev over GGG by some distance
Speaks volumes when one of the most intimidating fighters in the sport is intimated by Golovkin.

Its definitely Sergey Kovalev.
Kovalev's knockout of Ismayl Sillakh was one of the worst KO's Ive ever seen broadcasted live on HBO. The way he beat up Hopkins and Pascal was also thoroughly impressive. He seems to have no fear.
Sergey also literally killed a man in the ring. Don't think his opponents don't know that.
Sergey is very intimidating. Would you like to fight an undefeated KO puncher with no fear who has literally killed a man in a fight?

Not sure what is meant by intimidating. In the ring against their weight class? In the ring v all other boxers? Or on the street?
In weight class I would vote 3G.
All weights I would say WKlit, Wilder, Povetkin.
On the street it would be different. A kid like Joshua would be formidable. Povetkin has been looking like a better conditioned Fedor lately, speaking of someone I would definitely not want to be forced to deal with.
Kovalev takes the street intimidation though. Very difficult to deal with. Big enough but faster than hws. Hits like lead while not so easily hit.

Kudryashov scares me not just with his demeanour, but with the fact he is knocking muffers out with punches that he barely even seems to be leveraging. that dude he hit last fight with a left hook to the temple, it was more a dismissive wave than a power punch, his shoulder didn't even extend fully through the punch, and the dude's gone down like there was a sniper in the cheap seats.
Re: Who is the most intimidating boxer on the planet now?
Hmm tough one. Nobody is as intimidating as Tyson was. The ones mentioned are extremely intimidating in the ring but all seem nice outside the ring, especially GGG. If I met him, I wouldn't be intimidated, whereas if I met Iron Mike, I would be (even though he's supposed to be a nice bloke these days).
Chisora used to be intimidating outside the ring but nothing special when it comes to boxing.
Maidana looks like he just loves to fight too.

Stopped another guy in just over a minute doing that too. Looks like a slapping, just to keep you out of range shot, but it's obviously much harder than that suggests.Counter-puncher wrote:Kudryashov scares me not just with his demeanour, but with the fact he is knocking muffers out with punches that he barely even seems to be leveraging. that dude he hit last fight with a left hook to the temple, it was more a dismissive wave than a power punch, his shoulder didn't even extend fully through the punch, and the dude's gone down like there was a sniper in the cheap seats.
The first names that came to mind for this thread have been suggested. I'd add Huck and Froch, because while they may not be as heavy handed as some of the others, they are strong, durable, have good engines, come to beat you up, and will keep trying to do so even if you hit them loads of times. They are tough as fornicate and not one opponent has had an easy time with them, so if you're set to fight them you should be prepared to go through hell.

lateef and provodnikov also deserve a mention, they straight up look like dudes you sure aint wanna f/()k with

Re: Who is the most intimidating boxer on the planet now?
Kovalev, GGG, and Sammy Vasquez Jr. Now a lot of yinz are gonna bust my balls for the Vasquez choice but I seen the kid fight live about 4 times. He's the best welterweight out of Pittsburgh since Fritzie Zivic. Only he hits harder than Zivic. Wait and see if you don't believe me. As for them 2 Russians Kovalev and GGG, they are in a class by them-self. No one even comes close. GGG or Kovy both clobber Andre Ward. GGG smashed Mayweather 1 handed.
