• Kell Brook vs. Brandon Rios (29th August)
• Danny Garcia vs. Paulie Malignaggi (1st August)
• Keith Thurman vs. Luis Collazo (11th July)
There are quite a few reasons for Floyd to decline opportunities to face the following “big names”, but the main cause is the political barriers that need to be overcome, which would be seemingly insurmountable at this point in time given the time-frames involved:
• Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (Golden Boy/HBO vs. Haymon/Showtime)
• Miguel Cotto (Roc Nation/HBO vs. Haymon/Showtime)
• Gennady Golovkin (HBO vs. Haymon/Showtime)
We’re only fourteen weeks and one day away from the 12th September… and the Guerrero and Pacquiao bouts were announced 74 days and 71 days prior to their respective fight dates... and we’re quickly approaching that minimum notice period.
Therefore, I’m expecting Floyd Mayweather Jr. to announce a fight between himself and Amir Khan by the 19th June (at the very latest).
How can that happen if Khan will be still in the Ramadan period??
