I would certainly favor them too but it's not a foregone conclusion to me. I haven't been wowed by Walters and Russell and although Loma is exceptional he looks a bit uncomfortable as a pro in my view and is still vulnerable to top fighters at this stage of his career.Riddick Blowe wrote:I think he would lose comprehensively to Walters, Lomachenko, and Russell, and maybe a few others in the top 10. I agree that he definitely did not look special in this fight.crusader wrote:Selby clearly won and was looking increasingly good as the bout progressed, but for the most part I didn't think he looked special; rounds two, four, and five were fairly close in my opinion and watching again with the sound on this time I believe that the commentary ignored many of Gradovich's connects.
Selby still put himself among the top few fighters at the weight though, and there's no one in the division who I'd rule him out against. He obviously possesses good boxing skills, both on the back foot and in place, and he's got much better pop than his KO ratio suggests.
Yes, the tone of the broadcast was clearly biased in Selby's favor in my view. One small exception was that the replays they showed for the second round actually focused on what Gradovich landed, and I thought he won the round, yet the commentary would have one believe that it was all Selby and I think it worked to some extent.ikorolev wrote:English judges are as objective as English commentators or TV directors. Looking at replays shown to people, one could conclude that Gradovich didn't land ANYTHING.
Having watched the fight twice I have no problems with someone giving the 2nd, 4th, and 5th to Gradovich. It was a clear win for Selby but nowhere near a master class in my eyes.
