Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Whilst it was very disappointing yesterday, after reviewing the middleweight division I believe Geale is still very relevant. Yes he has lost to GGG and Cotto, both which had mitigating circumstance (we have been over them, weight, time keeping issues etc) but neither would have changed the result./ However when you look at the remainder of the middleweight division Geale is very competitive against all of them. Those who think Geale is "över the hill"or "shot" are kidding themselves. The next two guys in line are Andy Lee and Peter Quillin. I still think Geale competes with both extremely well.
Geale's management has done wonders with him. Fighting for all major world title belts, winning the IBF belt and despite losses continues to challenge those sitting at the pinnacle of the sport. I have read somewhere that Soliman, regardless of whether he wins or loses against Wade on June 27 he will be fighting an eliminator for the IBF number 1 challengers posi after that. What would Geale need to do to get back into a title picture with the IBF. A bout with Soliman would be competitive and I think it would sell well.

I agree.
but after what he has achieved, plus taking on the big names and coming up short, I just think he's given it a fair crack and really don't see the point in carrying on anymore.
if some of the other options of opponents were huge money then yeah, its worth a go. but those pay days r unlikely now imo.

Just wanna say that the left hook he got from Cotto would have felled a tree
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
A fight with sparing partner Dennis Hogan would be good... Would be a good step up for Hogan and a fight Geale can win.

Hammered by Cotto who would in turn be hammered by Golovkin.
Freddie Roach is nuts if he lets that one happen.
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
There is always a best of three, final money fight with Mundine.
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
If he decides to go on Soliman or Mundine 3(should Mundine lose to Trout). Think he's finished internationally(though would love to be wrong).

Geale is proving that he is far short of the standard of being a world champion.

Soliman has a date in the US with a prospect he's probably going to lose to.
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Yes he does have a bout in the usa. I doubt he loses, but my understanding is he will still participate in an IBF eliminator regardless of that outcome.world ranked wrote:Soliman has a date in the US with a prospect he's probably going to lose to.
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
He has proven to be the standard of a world champion. Minus GGG the middleweights are pretty even (160lb limit). I still think Geale still matches the next best very well:myrontheinvincable wrote:Geale is proving that he is far short of the standard of being a world champion.
Peter Quillin
Andy Lee
Daniel Jacobs
Sam Soliman
Jorge Sebastian Heiland
Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam
David Lemieux
Chris Eubank Jr
Martin Murray
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
I personally like Daniel but cant see him beating anyone in the top 10 now.
Loved his interview before the fight where he said that it was great seeing Aussies testing themselves against the best. And that we are coming up short at the moment. He also said or implied that they are setting the platform for the next group. Well said mate.
I'd certainly pay to see Daniel in some domestic fights or regional fights, just like I will for Wild Will

I would be waiting to see what Daniel's mindset is before speculating on his next fight. Provided he wishes to continue his options are limited IMO. As far as the states is concerned i think he is finished. I can't see any promoter touching him after his last three outings there.
Sam is the obvious fight in OZ. No doubt there will be some young guns looking to add to their resume but they will have to travel here.
Out of the list posted above only N'jikam and Murry would be suitable, the rest would blow him away.
I hope he retires, he has a young family and a loyal fan base. Another showing like last weekend will seriously affect his legacy. IMO.

No doubt he will beg Mundine for a third fight.
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Probably beat him too
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
I think Soliman would make Geale quit also.

Question marks over Geale quitting again will always linger.

Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Why you say he wont lose. There's no way he will get a IBF elimanator if he loses. He not enough of a draw or bring money to table to be able to pull that off. I think he opponent has a good chance to beat him.amwsnw wrote:Yes he does have a bout in the usa. Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Moves great, beautiful to watch, heart the size of a tic tac! He doesn't deserve another shot after the GGG and Cotto fights! He has achieved a lot in this sport. I hope he retires or just looks for money fights to buff up his bank account!
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Travel to Germany twice and defeat world champs on their soil. Face the biggest puncher and most feared fighter in the world whilst many continue to duck him (GGG), fight Cotto at a catch weight which will drain you to your absolute limits - yep i can see why you think he has the heart of a tic tac!!!
Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
I say he wont lose because that's my opinion. His form pre Taylor was the best we had seen from him and Wade hasnt been in with anyone of Sams caliber. Do you think he will lose ? Why ?world ranked wrote:Why you say he wont lose. There's no way he will get a IBF elimanator if he loses. He not enough of a draw or bring money to table to be able to pull that off. Re: Geale still relevant - Match up with Soliman
Rumour had it that he came in around the 80kg mark against Cotto. Not saying it's fact because I'm not sure. Yes, went to Germany and won twice. Superb efforts on both occasions. Got dropped twice against GGG, just gave up. Got dropped twice against Cotto, just gave up. Heart the size of a tic tac. Realised he was up against it, and just gave up on both occasions. It's amazing how hypocritical boxing fans are in Australia. Anthony Mundine got knocked down FIVE times against Joshua Clottey. And got up FIVE times! He NEVER QUIT! Just kept giving it his all for not just himself, but his fans.amwsnw wrote:Travel to Germany twice and defeat world champs on their soil. Now, just imagine if it were Mundine that just gave up like Geale has twice now?...

Really just acted like a good journeyman in the GGG and Cotto fights.

At this stage in their careers Mundine stops Geale.Pureist wrote:Probably beat him too
