Artur Beterbiev world title shot

Post by Cent0089 »

Hello boys, what do you think. Will be Artur ready for title shot? Has he better chance against Stevenson or Kovalev? Or maybe there will be eliminator between him and Eleider Alvarez first :box:

Haymon is going to protect Adonis's title and push Beterbiev towards Kovalev. He owns 3 out of 4 top rated contenders in WBC and he would want to keep it in the house.

Beterbiev on the other hand is top 5 with EVERY governing body. He will become mandatory very easily and very soon. He is also the only one who is brave enough to fight Kovalev and has a chance of beating him.

If its a mandatory situation, I predict they will agree to fight Kovalev on HBO. Beterbievs profile is not high enough to want to dictate terms to the champion. Plus if they force the purse bid they risk Kovalev vacating because of his contract with network. And we know, Beterbiev wants to fight.

I prefer if Arthur has another fight or two at high level before facing Kova, to really see what he is capable of. Pascal or Fonfara would be perfect tests and Fonfara might actually be persuaded to face him.

Of course they can but my guess is that they won't, for the reasons I've explained above.

The difference from Steveson situation is that, one Adonis was a big name, two he was a title holder and three the only reason he agreed to fight in the first place was because he was cornered and otherwise he would have to vacate.

In other words if Kovalev is forced to defend he will want to do it on his terms and I reckon Beterbiev will accept it rather then risking not fighting.

Would not it though be better for Haymon if his man beats Duvas main man and takes away all his belts, rather then collects vacated IBF strap. I think fighters opinion also matters, if Beterbiev wants it it will happen. Anyway, that is my prediction, I think fight happens and it will be on HBO. We shall see.

There is no evidence that Haymon expects Kova to drop the title. He might want the mandatory to insure that there is a fight. He might very well want to beat Kova and get all his belts.

Historical facts are not entirely comparable. Stevenson was defending his belt against the man he did not want to fight. Beterbiev is fighting for other mans belt, not one but three, the man he wants to fight. The circumstances are very different.

As for working together, Haymon and Duva will have to do it in some capacity even if it is a purse bid scenario. And HBOs policy is to let the fighters of rival promoters on the network in mandatory situations.

How could WBC force a fighter to fight on HBO? Thats not what happened. Duva wanted to force Stevenson to fight through WBC. Then she wanted to make a deal with Haymon. But Haymon refuse to negotiate and went for purse bid. Also, I appreciate you ignoring it but I did say Beterbiev wants to fight Kova whereas Adonis did not. Also, Adonis was a big name fighter, Arthur is not. Different circumstances!
fergusg wrote: When Golden Boy Promotions won the purse bid for the right to promote the fight between Gary Russell Jr. (Haymon) and Vasyl Lomachenko (Top Rank), which was televised by Showtime rather than HBO…

Stephen Espinoza from Showtime actually banned Top Rank’s Bob Arum from attending the conference calls to promote the Russell Jr.-Lomachenko fight.

Golden Boy Promotions was in complete control of the entire promotion of the bout whilst Bob Arum stood helplessly on the sidelines watching the entire event unfold.
Therefore when Beterbiev agrees to fight Kova on HBO, his poeple wont have to do anything with the other side. They will just stand by while Main Event take control of the promotion.

Actual situation is very clear to me. Duva did not participate in purse bid because she was not prepare to commit amount of money needed to beat Haymon and Kova could not fight on Showtime if they loose. Not because Adonis could not fight on HBO. HBO will not block Beterbiev fighting Kovalev on HBO if he is mandatory.

Duva did not ask for purse bid it was Haymon. Thats why it is impossible to argue with you, either you ignore logic or falsify facts. I am done.

You aren't the first person with these same complaints against him...
