Lee Haskins Chances ?

Post by JLBoxing »

I am looking forward to watching the world title fight on Saturday how do people here rate Haskins chances?

He is very fast and awkward but I don't know the opponent I see he has a lot of ko's which could be a problem, I know my mate knocked Haskins down in sparring a couple of weeks ago

Lookin forward to this one ,don't know much about Iwasa other than the fact his only defeat was to Yamanaka by KO but some people on here rate him

I'd like to see Haskins win ,he's a good fighter who can make fighters look awful ,can't really make a fair prediction but I'll maybe edge towards Iwasa

Didn't realise the rescheduled Ajisafe-Wanyonyi Commonwealth LHW title fight is on undercard

Real 50-50 bout, good match up. Haskins' home advantage could really help him here (NO Japanese boxer has ever won a world title in Europe) however Iwasa is the bigger puncher and is tough...going to be a good one.

I'll go with Iwasa late stoppage but wouldn't be shocked by a Haskins decision win.

Is your mate heavier than Lee, JL? Most of the guys I can think of are.

Apparently there was a spy in the gym today watching Iwasa...

Ryosuke Iwasa hasn't fought anyone except Shinsuke Yamanaka and he knocked him out. Haskins all the way!! I see him winning this comfortably :box:

Not totally true-
David De La Mora (Former world title challenger)
Kentaro Masuda (future Japanese champion) [Admittedly Omori did a MUCH better job on Masuda]

Iwasa is no mug, but could come unstuck away from home against an awkward boxer in Haskins. My feeling though is that Iwasa will come from behind for a stoppage win around the 10th

Haskins on points, I simply cannot see him failing to get the hometown decision. Anyway, he is long overdue a world title opportunity, given the fact that he has beaten two Brits who have gone on to claim a world belt...

Iwasa has a telegraphed left hand, must be knocking out nobodies.

David De La Mora ended up W25 L6 Although he did box for a world title twice but all of his wins was against poor opposition, also losing his last few fights with 2 of them being KO'D against journey men..

Looking at the Japanese guys record, Haskins is in for a tough night ... but so too is Iwasa.

Lee has earned his shot and I'm sure will give it everything he's got. If Haskins can capture the world title I'll be as pleased for Chris and Jamie Sanigar as I would be for Lee. They've stuck with each other from the start and winning the world title would be a great accomplishment for all concerned. :TU:

My gut choice is Haskins, he's just become such a slick fighter I don't think Iwasa will be able to KO him (even with better power).
If it goes to the cards, you would have to think he has the hometown advantage.

At same time, Iwasa has a 4.5 inch reach advantage which could play a huge role if the fight is fought at range.
It's really a tough fight to pick but my gut just says Haskins. Even with reach advantage I don't see Iwasa getting to him enough to win.

Definitely an interesting matchup, prolly best of weekend.

Not good: Haskins' hands are too low. He's small for the weight.
Was stopped to the body by Jamoye?
Puh-lease.

Iwasa's taller, faster, sharper. That straight left comes out of nowhere
fast from long range.
Haskins won't make it past 7.

Haskins tried to brawl it out with Jamoye which wasn't a good choice.
He's improved on defense (keeps his hands up better now) and has been fighting a lot smarter style since that bout.

In his recent matches he looks quite slick and hard to get to. Much more calculating on offense too lately.
I wouldn't discredit him that easily. This has a good chance of going the distance and he has hometown advantage on cards.
