Billy Walker's "When the gloves came off" is IMO one of the best boxing books, but may not appeal to anyone who doesn't remember him. I thought "Bomber" by Herol Graham was a decent read and also Michael Murray's "The Journeyman".magwitch wrote:Ashamed to say I picked up Bernard Dunne's autobiog last week for a quid - but put it back! It wasn't even a charity shop, it was just a clearance. I've too many on the go.
I'm looking forward to Johnny Nelson's, which is still unopened in the envelope it arrived in, but I generally get them in the charity shops. I'm halfway through Frochy's, which is a super book and has altered my perceptions of him considerably.
Two that were good were George Foreman's and Michael Watson's. I've also got one called When The Gloves Came Off but I just never really properly got going with that one. I've dipped into it here and there and I think I'm gonna give it another bash.
Another shout for Theodore from me btw

Stunning book and formed the basis for a stunning documentary by Ken Burns - about four hours long and worth every minute.Syntax Error wrote:Not an autobiography, but a biography that is a must read is: UNFORGIVABLE BLACKNESS: THE RISE & FALL OF JACK JOHNSON.
Stunning read.

Not an autobiography, but the four kings is great read.
Non boxing, Stan Collymore book called 'stan'. Great read, very honest and entertaining.
