Please Explain Your Scoring

Then you can put up a time I've quoted when a punch didn't land brainiac

I'm not going to even bother with doing at breakdown round by round (that's too tedious and I don't owe you a thing). So in the future stop counting when they swing and miss as opposed to when they actually swing and hit something and then maybe you'll actually learn how to count the punches landed accordingly.
I had to disappear to watch the fight to see what I knew I had seen the first time all over again, rarely would I say this but this time because of the clarity of punches both men actually threw you could honestly see which ones hit and which ones miss and oddly enough CompuBox was nearly spot on with my count barring a few shots they counted for MP which didn't land but I gave him the same credit for them simply for the sake of evening things up so it wouldn't be too much of a gap making Floyd look even more dominant than the stats actually show.
Now we can move on to our 25 pages of arguing about my find vs Pureist's fantasy find.
Put up or shutup, fool.

Re: Please Explain Your Scoring
Sorry KBB, but that's not even close to being real proof. As for your claim that you counted the exact numbers of the official CompBox stats, either you are lying or it is an amazing coincidence. Counting punches in real time will never be completely accurate, counting numbers using video footage in full speed or slow motion, will never be completely accurate. The official CompuBox numbers in round 3 are clearly inaccurate - I don't see how anyone could rewatch this round at any speed and not agree with that. I'm just amazed by the range in the numbers by different people who have counted punches in this fight.KBB wrote:Here's the proof that you are wrong, I counted the exact same amount of punches that CompuBox did, I'm not sure where you dreamt up the 171 punches Floyd landed and the 126 you claimed Packy landed.Pureist wrote:Hey , I'm happy, KBB and ferg haven't managed to show any proof I'm wrong, any proof I'm biased and in fact I think ferg has spent more time going through the dictionary looking up words to try and make himself look more intelligent than he obviously is, at the end of the day ferg, you have argued yourself to a resounding loss

CompuBox (real time):
148-81 Mayweather
Alfredo Flores - Boxing News 24 (method not given):
98-68 Pacquiao
Artorias Abbyswalker (slow motion):
68-65 Pacquiao
Coachmanager (slow motion):
72-62 Mayweather
Pureist (slow motion):
171-126 Mayweather
Not that punch statistics are a good way to score a fight, but I find the range in the numbers above to be fairly good evidence that counting punches is a very difficult thing to do and no one is ever going to get it completely right.

watched this in slow motion.
At least with Pureist count we had an increase in both fighters output.I still think all the numbers are off.
And we will never know what the count is.It was a nice try by Pureist counting them all.
But in no way can we take any of these counts from numerous sites as gospel

I'm very confident of being very accurate, no one has actually called me on any punches yet after 16 pages

Reason being. Is that none of us want to watch that crap in slow motion.Pureist wrote:I'm very confident of being very accurate, no one has actually called me on any punches yet after 16 pages

Mods must be amused by this worthless thread, by the ridiculous comments by guys on ignore by most posters. The lock button should be on, but I am guessing the band width has not been reached yet, or the stupidity level.

We're counting cards.
Of course Fergus is an excellent driver.

Your post proves just as much as Pureist did, that none of us will agree and that it won't change a thing, which is why I said he wasted his time. If Pureist would've just accepted that the vast majority will not agree with him then this thread would've been 1 page and over.
Unlike him, I can accept that you don't agree with me and that's fine.

Re: Please Explain Your Scoring
KBB i actually do agree with you.I know there is never going to be a true count. It is nearly impossible.
I am just truly amazed that with so many people saying they have done a punch count. How the figures can be this distorted.I would of assumed plus or minus 20 punches from any slow motion replay.

Either way you slice it Manny Pacquiao lost that fight, the shoulder thing is just an excuse to taint the win. Out of all this time I've been a fan of this sport I've never seen so called "boxing fans" to the point of this emotional high on hate for a fighter, it's like something personal (Floyd must have pissed on Packy's fans).
I just don't get it, the comments about running, Ali fought in nearly the same manner but he wasn't called a runner, SRL never stood toe to toe in any of his fights but he's not called a runner, DLH actually and literally RAN in one of his fights but he's not referred to as a runner.
Boxing used to be about showcasing one's skills, not about being entertaining to the point of a fighter simply abandoning his skills or risking himself being killed or hurt for the sole fact of being entertaining to a few casuals and a few fanatics who either don't know anything about boxing or is only a fan of one fighter.
I'm glad the fight is over, I can only imagine how long this board would be buzzing about Manny Pacquiao being the Greatest Fighter Ever if he had beaten Floyd especially if Mayweather made the Shoulder Injury as an excuse.
Just take a look how long this thread has went on and this wasn't to prove he won (though some blinded fans think that), it was done just to show how many punches one believes landed or not.....I mean, can you imagine if Packy won???
This forum would have to shutdown because it would be littered with PacTurds ridiculing and rubbing it in every chance they get if he had won.
Moderators, please do your job and lock/delete this thread, it's done/tired and finished.
Re: Please Explain Your Scoring
floyd might have won the fight, but his fans
lost this thread. ad hominem attacks are a bad
argument against facts. confronted with such
you have to address them or shut up. if this
guy counts like crazy in slowmo, you have to
do the same if you want to make an argument
or you better shut up. saying it is stupid to do
the counting is really not smart ...

Final word on this fight was it was very close. Floyd didnt want to fight, he wanted to stink it out, starve it of action and land his pot shots, ofcourse getting the nod as he always does from his mate Dave Moretti and co. But in reality Pac landed the more substantial punches in at least 6 of the rounds which was why those not led like sheep by the commentry had an acceptable score card around 115-113 for either guy
Re: Please Explain Your Scoring
that's how i saw it. but i have no problem with floydRicky_ wrote:this fight was it was very close.
getting the nod, he managed to neutralise one of the
biggest attackers of all time. the shoulder is no part
of the scoring.
team pac could have done a classier act in the aftermath.
all of them. take the decision and shut up. that's how it
is done. tommy hearns after hagler is the only blueprint
for how a fighter should behave in such a situation.
