is if a real soldier hero envies superman for
popularity.

Bernard Hopkins was never really a genuine light heavyweight in the first place, though he rehydrates to slightly above the 180lbs mark, which is suppose is deceptively heavy in comparison to his physically more impressive foes.

The thing is… Hopkins has been calling out Carl Froch for quite some time and it already seems that his team are negotiating with Eddie Hearn for a potential bout with James DeGale:
"BERNARD HOPKINS DISCUSSES POTENTIAL CLASH WITH JAMES DEGALE: "THAT'S REAL SERIOUS"

:TU:
Can't see it he's 50 and will be less comfortable at SM. DeGale won't go up having just won the title. Froch would go up to fight BHop

At SM, Bernard's power can have more effect, and he can likely comfortably make the weight.

I really do not see Hopkins dropping weight at age 50 for a supposed retirement fight. If he fights DeGale I'm sure it will be at LHW or a catchweight.

No, I think he will want the belt. Bernard comes to weigh-ins at about 172-173, so I don't think he has to work on his weight at all when he fights at LHW.

Yeah I agree and I know I read somewhere that he said his walking around weight was 180.
So 168 should be no struggle.

In fights where he's allowed an unofficial weight Hopkins generally weighs around 180. Dropping 12 pounds is not that hard for most fighters but the guy is 50 years old. I just don't see why he'd agree to it. Surely at this point in his career another ABC belt doesn't really matter. If DeGale wants to fight him he should move up like Calzaghe did.

168 is Bernard's idea which came up after Kovalev's beating. Bernard realized that he doesn't have enough power for 175.

He says the ongoing disrespect, which he feels is racially motivated, has kept him away from fighting in his hometown.

Basically, it upsets him that a white fictional character like Rocky Balboa commands more respect than he does.

The thing is… does a moderately famous public figure like Bernard Hopkins have any right to be discussing issues of race when he famously shouted the following sentence at Joe Calzaghe?

“I would never let a white boy beat me. I would never lose to a white boy. I couldn’t go back to the projects if I let a white boy beat me?” :o

In my mind, it doesn’t matter if he was only trying to be controversial in order to sell the fight, because regardless of whether he meant those words or not, he expressed racist remarks… and he’s only made his own plight even worse by making such bizarre comments!
I don't know where you're from but ... in America, there's a real belief among the black population that the country abused/abuse them and got/gets away with it. The evidence kinda supports that view ...

So when Hopkins says that, he is responding to years of abuse and crime against blacks that is not normally discussed in America and probably doesn't get exported as an image of the USA.

When a white person in the USA says they'll never let a black person beat them, that's most likely coming from a position of superiority, historically and currently in the country.

The whole, "all racism is equal" movement is simply a way to ignore the anger felt by all groups that we all KNOW were abused and never compensated.

This situation is not limited to blacks in America.
Bad intentions I am Irish and American Indian.I know my ancestors were treat as bad if not worse than the
blacks.I do not harbor resentment for my peoples land being stolen or our women raped.
Why the hostility of other races?
I think we can all use another national holiday. If the Indians' get one I'm for it. They had it the worst. Unless you were a man from UK decent with wealth, pretty much everyone had a hard time immigrating to the USA.

Blacks, Jews, Latino's Indians, Women, Asians, Gay's, etc..

This is 2015. The USA evolved and came up with new laws, most of which were penned by whites. Any ethic person who works hard and character can be more successful than their parents were.

Back to Hopkins. His fanning of the racial flames are despicable.

I think you are making too big of a deal about his imaginary "racism".

This
“I would never let a white boy beat me. I would never lose to a white boy. I couldn’t go back to the projects if I let a white boy beat me?”
was just bad talk/self-promotion.

Hopkins just rushed through negotiations with Kovalev to avoid getting stripped of one of the belts he had at that time.
People can talk about the lawsuit all they want but the reality is the fight could have been signed at any time and Kovelev's lawsuit would have been dead.
The second Kovalev signs to fight Hopkins his claim to lost income is over, regardless of whether Hopkins possessed IBF belt.
Hopkins made sure to get that deal done before the IBF deadline
This is the same Bernard Hopkins who is notoriously difficult at the bargaining table.
With a sanctioning body breathing down his neck he's suddenly a quick negotiator.

Hopkins cares about those belts and if he wins another he won't retire with it, the only way Hopkins loses belts in the ring.

He doesn't win fights with power anymore anyway so that's not really an issue

Yes, Yes, brilliant.

Ban people in boxing because they make stupid remarks.

If that was the case, professional boxing would cease because of a lack of participants.

I guess you're one of those politically correct characters who feels that if you're offended, throw the guy in jail.
