Maybe he was behind but anything can happen, Buchanan was right to be aggrieved, he lost his title due to a low blow,Duran should've been DQ'd
Nothing was going to happen! Said with hindsight for sure but Duran went on to become probably the greatest lightweight of all time.

Buchanan was aggrieved about a lot of things, how he never defended his world title in his home country, how his home city didn't respect him, and didn't he want to go and find Duran in New York 40 years after the bout for a streetfight?

Duran should have been warned and had points took off him, to DQ him that late in the fight when he was a mile ahead on points would have been a disgrace.

First nomination. Marvin Hagler spat his right out after the Leonard fight. I mean, even if you think Hagler won (I don't), it was a close fight. He threw away the early rounds and missed a load of punches, yet, in his mind, it was the swindle of the century. SPIT!
Leonard threw lots of eye catching flurries towards the end of every round - JoJo Guerra's card of 1180-110 was a disgrace. I thought Hagler won but the boxing world had a hard-on for a Leonard fairy tale comeback - Hagler should have told the arrogant showpony to get in line and prove himself. :shame:

uld have told the arrogant showpony to get in line and prove himself. :shame:
I thought that Leonard won pretty handily, Hagler just didn't work hard enough over the first half of the fight, and foolishly tried to outbox Leonard in the first 4 rounds, - throwing the rounds away. I also thought that the only fighter who got dominated at any point of the fight was Hagler.

Leonard may not have been beating Hagler up, but he didn't have to - and he would have been mad to try against a much more physically powerful man.

At the end of the day, Hagler allowed himself to be dominated in the pre-fight negotiations, ceding terms to Leonard, especially for the giant sized ring - he could have told Leonard to go poke it, but he was so determined to destroy Leonard, that he allowed it to cloud his judgement, and paid the price. The 12 round distance also suited Leonard far better.

In a smaller ring, Leonard would have had to have worked so much harder to get the win, and Hagler probably would have gotten to him early enough to grind out the win down the stretch, I doubt he could have stopped Ray, because Ray was a very tough cookie indeed, despite his fancy dan image.

The all time best has to be Duran in the Leonard rematch. "He dancing and I can't catch him, so I'll just quit in the middle of the fight."

Speaking of which, Trevor Berbick had gas being pumped through the air con in his hotel room before he fought Tyson. He didn't just simply get beaten up. :D
