Not impressed at all either... Molina hurt him a few times and could've stopped him if he could hit with more than one punch... Wilder was good on straight punches attacks but when he tried the hook, lots of the times he missed and was off-balanced... could've easily been KOd by Povet with a left hook counter...

Wilder has such a big advantage with his size and better than average jab. How that bum was able to go 8 or 9 rounds with him is a cause for concern.

In fairness that fight couldve easily been stopped a few times in the first 5 rounds.

Besides Povetkin, there are several others who would beat Wilder fairly easily.

For example, it's obvious Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua are on two different levels.

Joshua has a good head on his shoulders, real punching power and solid boxing fundamentals.

Wilder is tall and has decent punching power, but his boxing skills are clearly not world-class.

Yes, Joshua still hasn't had his chin or stamina tested, though I'd be quite surprised if Molina extended him to the 9th.

I'm really surprised some people start questioning Wilder's power just because he went 9 rounds with Molina. Every time he landed clean punch, Molina went down. I don't rate Wilder's power lower then before based on his performance against Molina, but his timing for right hand looked awful today. Also he showed defensive lapses couple of times, which is a dangerous sign.

I'd say the schooling of Stiverne told us more about the guy than a dragged out beating up of a journeyman, no?

This fight tells us nothing about how he would fare against Povetkin or Fury. Literally nothing.

Wilder being hurt by Molina, extended to the ninth, and apparently showing pronounced flaws against a fairly low-level challenger are certainly worth considering when trying to assess how he'd do against top opponents. Stiverne has done nothing aside from beating Arreola, he lost to and drew with journeymen, and he was handily outboxed by 40 year old Ray Austin for nearly 10 rounds not many fights before, so I think it's a big stretch to conclude as you did that Wilder is the future of the division based on that win.

The ref couldve stopped that fight like 5 times. Dude kept turning his back. Most refs dont let that fight go on. And you wouldnt be playing this "extended into the 9th round" argument. The ref was extremely forgiving to Molina. Or unforgiving?

No one is beating Wlad. He will rule until he retires. I've said that many times. As for the future it's going to be Wilder and Joshua and Povetkin tho he's getting older. When I made my comments about Wilder being "the future" it was before Joshua was looking as impressive as he has.

I was VERY disappointed in Wilder myself. Not sure if his Right hand is still injured or he was literally carrying him.

Until last night, I thought Wilder was very promising. Now I only have Joshua and J. Parker on my HW list under "very promising."

Wilder has been demoted to "entertaining."
