Lara put me to sleep with that performance before I could see the interview, as he's done repeatedly since being dropped heavily by Angulo. Even given how reluctant he is to throw I'm surprised that he didn't get the shot Rodriguez out of there.
Isn't GGG contractually tied to HBO, while Lara is with Haymon? It seems to me like even if GGG wanted to fight the bore-master there would be political impediments to it.

It's pretty sad that this kid just doesn't get it. His fight with Angulo was electric and the only reason why he's headlining any card anywhere. He took quite a beating in that fight with El Pero' but there has to be some middle ground style of boxing he could employ to make his fights a little more eye pleasing to the fans. I have no need to see this guy run, I mean fight, anyone.

Lara's pretty much a southpaw Mayweather, not as good of course but they have the same fighting mentality, don't need to take chances so won't take chances, looks good when letting his hands go but too many lulls in the action
Surely even Floyd would've dispatched Rodriguez at some point though,I like Lara he's technically brilliant but like all Cubans is pretty uninspiring and still caught in the amateur style

Its kind of ironic that while most of the posters here complain that GGG has not fought anyone, or can't get a decent opponent, that they say they would rather not see a quality fighter like Lara, who has beaten some top contenders fight GGG?
Lara beat Canelo, imo, even if he ran a bit too much. Lara beat PW. Lara dominated Trout, who dominated Cotto. I know styles make fights, and GGG is one of the best at cutting off the ring, so you would think he could force the fight. Canelo's feet are way to slow so he couldn't do it. I would love to watch this interesting clash in styles.
That all being said, I wish Lara would man up and take on another loud mouth that has been calling him out. Andrade. Yes, Lara said he already beat him (8 or 9 yrs ago in amateurs) but it would be a good fight.

If Lara is willing to fight on HBO then GGG must take it. I am sure he destroys him without much trouble but at leat it will shut up some of the "critics" because of his "name".
Re: Lara calls out GGG again on TV says at 160
Bullsh1t ! Lara doesn't have a contract with Showtime like Floyd did, so there is no need to split money between networks. If Haymon will be OK to let Lara fight on HBO, there is no need on huge amounts of money.fergusg wrote:Lara vs. GGG won't happen.
When: Total Money < $100m
Then: Haymon + HBO = No Fight!
The real problem is that Lara showed yet another boring performance yesterday, so HBO may not approve him.

If Lemieux/N'Dam winner accepts the GGG fight, then they will take precedence. Otherwise, Lara is the best available opponent now.Badhusker wrote:Its kind of ironic that while most of the posters here complain that GGG has not fought anyone, or can't get a decent opponent, that they say they would rather not see a quality fighter like Lara, who has beaten some top contenders fight GGG?

I will not be able to persuade you, as you live in your own imaginary world where everything happens in accordance to known rules and nothing ever changes.

Why are so many saying that ggg wont fight him. I see no reasons for such statements ?
Re: Lara calls out GGG again on TV says at 160
He's (Lara) the kind of fighter, who it's cool to say he can beat anyone because of his skill. Makes people sound like they really "get" boxing, that they know this guy has this incredible thing most can't see.Butterbean wrote:Why are so many saying that ggg wont fight him. That's my best guess anyway. Personally I don't think Lara is active enough to even get a decision against GGG, if it went that far.
