I've no doubt that Calzaghe would have prevailed, however, I'm sure Froch would have had his moments.

As an all around fighter, Calzaghe was a much better package, and actually every bit as tough as Froch to boot when needed.

I think pre-bad hands Joe can jump on and force a stoppage. I think post-injuring hands then Joe can cruise to a points win.......well, get to a points win by hook or by crook, I don't think cruise was the right word.

Personality-wise I have never really liked either. I own both their books but I have only read Froch's. He comes across much, much, much better on paper than on the TV. I loved his book. But then most people are thoroughly top chaps and ladies in their own autobiographies, I suppose

Froch actually makes me laugh, I noticed that in the Sport magazine yesterday, he managed to get in the '80,000 at Wembley' quote yet again, hilarious!

I genuinely think Froch is misunderstood. Know a few people who have met him and no one has a bad word to say about him. Also seems very popular with other pro's/ex pro's.

100%. My boss met Haye in Miami at a bar, said he invited all the lads in VIP, chatted to em all, had a good laugh, said he didn't come across as having a big ego at all. Of course this is just one person's experience but I agree he's probably a decent bloke.

Calzaghe always struggled against slick operators - he had a lot of trouble with Robin Reid, and Ward is a way better counterpuncher and all round fighter than Reid ever was.

It's a shame that Ward's career has been stifled by contractual issues, because I believe he is a truly special once in a generation talent.

Let's not forget, that Calzaghe had serious trouble with Brewer and could definitely be hit and hurt - I think that he would have beaten Carl on points comfortably, but no way do I see him giving Carl a thrashing, Carl is too good for that. The only person who has ever dominated Carl is Ward, and Calzaghe was never as slick or cagey as Ward, he was a full-throttle, fast-handed aggressive fighter, who thrived by applying constant pressure, and dominating his opponents, not a super-elusive master boxer.

ward is a good spoiler to.

which is a big reason i'd make him favourite over joe.

i think he'd have beat him to the punch on the outside and successfully offset him up close.
