They're a great learning experience for young fighters, although not so much after they've already had 10 fights, but they do need to turn a few over so it's not a 12 minute procession every time they fight. William Warburton is a great example of the perfect journeyman, rarely stopped, picks up a win every now and then and if he isn't really coming to win, still doesn't make it easy for the fighter in the home corner. Youssef Al Hamidi is another, although he could do with a win at the moment as he's gone a while without one. The more journeymen about like that the better.

lads that is an outright lie kris is going to his meeting in july and getting his suspension sorted.Kris has no intention whatsoever of boxing under an mbc licence

Who ever wrote that is out of order it doesnt say who has said this and it doesnt quote kris as saying it in fact it actualy quotes him as saying iv just got to keep training until my hearing and hopefully be allowed to carry on.

I got the link from Elliot Foster on twitter Jon, might be worth contacting him his tweet and the title of the article clearly state Kris has been granted an MBC license.

Re Kristian, I haven't seen him box in about 4 years. do i take it he still manages to avoid taking punishment? i mean, all boxers slip and decline as they age, is he taking much more now than he used to (he certainly never used to ship heavy punishment when i was seeing him box regularly)?

What is your basis for saying I am "way out of touch"? And if you can do a better job, why don't you volunteer your services?

We don't actually know why he's been suspended yet, for all we know there's an issue with his brain scan. Journeyman are an important and necessary part of boxing, but they shouldn't be able to turn up and take their money for getting beat every other week, 9 wins in 216 fights isn't a lot, even by the standards of most journeymen, IMO they should looking for a 10% win rate so that they do pick up a few wins and don't just tuck up and survive in every fight. There is a need to bring new journeymen through, Laight's boxed 1,036 rounds, he might not take much punishment but that's a hell of a lot and we still don't know the long term effects of it, especially since journeymen have only really become prevalent in the last few decades in their current form and aren't high profile, so go unnoticed once they retire.

Sorry, but that's just not correct. Given that Area Councils make the decision to suspend, issue new licences, and so on, that covers pretty much all of his post above, and he's saying that a specific decision made by the Area Council I am on is completely wrong and made by people who are "way out of touch". Sounds like direct criticism to me. Like all Area Council members, confidentiality agreements mean we can never disclose details of anything specific, which is why I have only commented in the most general of terms above, and why I observe plenty of threads but don't comment very often, as neutrality is very important. I'm always happy to take direct criticism, but not when it comes with lies ("they have his card marked" - stated as a certainty, not even as a "maybe" or as "I expect" - for the record, my experience, again talking generally, is that all licence holders in our Area are treated equally and fairly) and half-baked guesswork ("I bet they have recruited lots of fresh young ones so out with the old in with the new" - in fact all boxers are judged on performance, not number of fights, nor age). Just because someone apparently has a bad experience with the Board doesn't make it right to slate everyone indiscriminately.

That's a shame I think the majority of what the board does is very good work, but the one criticism that many seem to level at that its quite a closed book.

My personal own experience pal 32 pro fights. I think im entitled to an opinion. I wouldn't want to work with double standards you work within. Ive no reason to lie about my situation what would I gain from it ? I know what happened that day. Someone was up on drug offences not taking them
I wont go any more into it because im better than that. Go licence another Freddie Flintoff and dont allow skeltons to box olympic champs.

OK - it's clear that you have not read what I wrote, so here goes:

1. I fully respect your own personal experience, as I have said already.

2. I have never said you are lying about your own situation - clearly you know what happened to you better than anyone.

3. I have full respect for all licence holders, past and present, particularly the boxers as they are the ones who put it on the line.

4. My objection was to your statement that Kristian Laight's "card is marked", which you stated as fact. If you have any evidence of that, then you should send it to Kristian or his manager, as it will be important for his hearing, and post it here too so we can see it.

5. Midlands Area did not deal with Flintoff, Skelton, or indeed you (based on your other posts) so why make those comments to me?

Just to complete the stereotype of people who work for the Board (as some on this thread are clearly not going to accept that there are any of us who actually try to do a good job), I'm off down the Bullingdon club in my blazer to eat roast ptarmigan with my public school mates, if my butler can only get my zimmer frame in the car.

To be fair Mate I can assure you that olij doesnt operate a double standards policy and indeed neither does anybody on the area council he is part of and indeed the said area council was in no way involved licencing Freddie Flintoff I beleive that was another area

Maybe there stricter up here? Certainly seems that way... Tijuana1 is not the sort of guy to try and insult anyone personally. Just the system. We've all been around a long time and seen guys who can't even throw a punch, yet medically fit, experienced boxers are getting refused because they've lost a few?
