Great fight if it comes off,Wach gave Wladimir some problems and even looked like he hurt him at one point, its a ballsy move but the right one giving how Joshua is destroying everyone,I'm in no rush to see Anthony fight for a world title,especially giving his lack of amateur experience and the fact he can't get rounds under his belt but Mariusz should provide that as well as ambition so really hope it comes off

You only have to put a run of 10 wins to be a contender in this poor poor division. Of course back in the 80's 90's etc Joshua most likely wouldnt be ranked in the top 20 yet, its not his fault though its just the division is full of nothing.

Would love to see it happen. Wach is one of the few who may be able to stand up to Joshua's shots and take him rounds.

It would also be nice to see him fight a big HW for once.

This is a big step up from the level Joshua has been operating at, Wach is a big guy who can really take a punch. He is a bit of a plodder though and quite slow with his hands, but he does know his way around a ring and i'm certain will be coming with real intentions of winning. Wach's only real claim to fame is his showing against Klitschko, other than that he ha faced nobody worth noting, but he's beaten all others he has fought. Its a very good fight for Joshua at this stage of his career. If he has any stamina issues or is chinny, this could be the fight to expose those weaknesses. Joshua will be a big favourite on most peoples cards and rightly so, but this fight is no foregone conclusion. I suspect we should know a good bit more about Joshua after this one.

At 35 Wach is getting on a bit. Anyone know why he took 2 years off after he lost to Klitschko?

Good match but Wach will get destroyed in two rounds. Yes he has a good chin but he is also very immobile and slow. Joshua will steamroller him.

Had a quick scan through Wach vs Airich, perhaps those who saw the full fight can give a better comparison but Airich didn't seem too concerned with Wach's power compared to how quickly he started backing off Joshua in the 3rd. The stoppage was also a strange one, he kept spitting his mouth guard out and then the fight just ended - did his corner stop it? He didn't look hurt, just shattered I think.

That was my initial reaction too but the more I think about this fight the more I like it.

It's a big step up no doubt, but Wach is not a wiley old fox who might old man Joshua the way Thompson did Price. Wach has no defence to speak of and relatively crude attack so if Joshua is progressing as he should be he'll deal with him.

In the worst case scenario AJ loses but, provided it wasn't due to a glass jaw, he's plenty young enough to learn from it and come back. If there's something wrong with his training set-up, defence, etc it will be found out eventually anyway.

Could Joshua stop Wach? Not impossible. Wach took some huge shots from Wlad but most of Wlad's stoppages come from either icing the guy with a single shot or the opponent deciding they've had enough. Wach's chin seems too good to get KO'd with one shot but that doesn't mean he couldn't be overwhelmed when hurt, which seems more Joshua's style.

His last fight did him few favours, he does need the rounds, instead it has propelled him to the fringe of world class.
In fact Fury's fights against big John McDermott did him the world of good.

Although I am surprised he is still listed to fight in Manchester on 18th July on BoxRec, surely there is no point him beating up a journeyman, unless it is solely just to flog a few more tickets off the Joshua name.

Wach isn't as menacing as he looks. 6 rounds to take out Tye Fields, anyone? And at 35 and with only four fights in the last three years, he's ripe for a pummelling. Overall though a big strong lump and someone who should ask some questions.

Already Joshua is beating men more dangerous than the WBC champion's challengers!
