That was the only fight where Reid ever came in in poor shape, he was absolutely ripped during the rest of his career, and yes, he trained by the pool and in his hotel room. By then Reid was over the hill, and probably not very motivated any more.
Reid is hardly an example of a guy who routinely came in in poor shape - in fact, he used to have written on his robe 'One day all Super Middleweights will look like this.'
Smith is such an idiot... I won't go as far and say a disgrace, but what a complete idiot, and Hearn trying to defend it about flights and water retention is embarassing.
Really poor from smith. If i was ward I'd fornicate the fight off or hammer him for more of his purse. Fighters not attempting to make weight is disgraceful and becoming too frequent.

It's poor form and the fact he has lost 45k seems odd if it is the first one, as if it is just a payday for him then you would have thought that he would want every penny.

He's another one like Frankie Gavin, he could box at middleweight really if he were diligent, he's always looked a bit fleshy - with this missing the weight he's spoiled the biggest fight of his life and appears a touch scared - it's a cheating thing to do, there didn't ought to be any place for it and I hope Ward body shots him till he pukes.
Wards camp know they are fighting a hand picked middleweight, they won't care if he is 5 stone over. It just suggests he hasn't trained hard, probably because he knows he is being brought in to lose.
Or perhaps he is hiding an injury and doesn't want to lose the payday.
Last few weeks there's been some banter between Ward and Golovkin regarding a possible meeting if Golovkin is willing to move up. To a lesser degree there's also been some talk between Ward and Kovalev, if WARD is willing to move up (very unlikely)
I said (somewhat facetiously) if Smith is remotely competitive against Ward, given how he keep getting fights he doesn't merit you could see Golovkin choosing Smith for his 168lbs debut (a horrific prospect)
But now Smith has moved up a division this could mean (shudder)

Not enough of a punishment for me. This encourages fighters to push the boundaries. He's over half the way to another weight class higher. If the difference in class wasn't so vast it would be dangerous
