Porter down at the beginning of the 12th from a perfectly timed counter hook right on the button but he recovered well. Porter 10-2. If Broner gets this it will be highway robbery . . .

It was a beautiful shot, but Porter seemed to recover instantly. Good chin on him.dempseyfire wrote:Porter down at the beginning of the 12th from a perfectly timed counter hook right on the button but he recovered well. Porter 10-2. If Broner gets this it will be highway robbery . . .

Porter by wide I'd imo, even with the knockdown. Man that kid is in tremendous shape.

Especially given that he was forced to drain down to 144.punchoutsb wrote:It was a beautiful shot, but Porter seemed to recover instantly. I bet Broner took all those millions offered by Jay-Z, he's not gonna be a PPV star.

His conditioning was also superb, even more impressive with the extra weight cut.dempseyfire wrote:Especially given that he was forced to drain down to 144.punchoutsb wrote:It was a beautiful shot, but Porter seemed to recover instantly. great hook from broner. best punch of the fight.
Re: Broner gets Maidana'd AGAIN..=)
God I love seeing Adrien Broner lose. It's always good when someone takes out the trash. Thanks Shawn Porter! Weeks was too lenient. That double backhand should have been an instant point deduction.

Floyd played the d-bag but at least one could appreciate his boxing skills, which are legitimately great. Broner talks sh^& and can't back it up; he's incredibly unentertaining. I find it remarkable a fighter fighting in the 140s manages to hold as much or more than Klitschko does, along with his numerous forearms, arm twists, and push-downs. The whole fight. And all Broner showed was the quick left hook counter and good reflexes. He couldn't land the right; his footwork was poor per usual, he showed zero angles. He's a one-trick pony.digzee wrote:I bet Broner took all those millions offered by Jay-Z, he's not gonna be a PPV star.

One thing Broner did win was the undisputed Classless Champion of the Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooorld. Adrian Broooooooner.
Re: Broner gets Maidana'd AGAIN..=)
Weeks was his normal self; not penalizing fighters for illegal tactics.
Broner got his ass handed to him, and am glad the judges saw it that way too. Big time props to Porter. He was solid at 165 in the amateurs, so no idea how he made 144. From what I read he is super disciplined and dedicated, which Broner lacks.
Broner needs a strict trainer to get him back to the basics. The stupid posturing he does during fights might work against tomato cans, but not the top guys.

Adrian, "The Weight Problem" Broner
From what I read today, he had more trouble making weight and was totally fine not having today's weight recorded.

Yeah he's criminally overrated, his biggest asset was his size but now he's fighting guys his own size everyone can see he's not a P4P star.dempseyfire wrote:Floyd played the d-bag but at least one could appreciate his boxing skills, which are legitimately great. Broners only hope is to get down to 140 can not compete well at 147.
Re: Broner gets Maidana'd AGAIN..=)
Would love him to drop down to 140, fight Crawford and get absolutely schooled.victor-romeo wrote:Broners only hope is to get down to 140 can not compete well at 147.

Broner is way more skilled than Porter and really shouldn't have lost. The problem with Broner is he doesn't know when to turn it on and off and doesn't make adjustments. On the other hand, Madaina beat the living shit outta Broner, where as Porter just out worked and out pressured Broner with out ever having him in serious trouble. Madiana did a much better number on him than Porter did to the point I don't think Broner would ever have a chance against Madaina, but I wouldn't doubt Broner could beat Porter in a rematch.

Broner may have better physical skills, but he is not more skilled than Porter. Porter had a game plan and executed it quite well, while Broner once again tried to rely on not much more than his physical gifts without putting the work into honing his boxing skills enough to give him a chance to beat his opponent.NateJR wrote:Broner is way more skilled than Porter and really shouldn't have lost. He's way more skilled, but not as tactical. But I guess in a sense being a tactician is a overlooked skill and Broner just doesn't have that. But Broner learns to control the center of the ring with his jab he beats Porter. Broner was too predictable with his left hook counters, he allowed Porter to get inside on him because he wasn't throwing a jab, it's really that simple. To be honest Porter has a terrible jab and Broner had all the advantages in the middle of the ring and didn't use it.The Great John L wrote:Broner may have better physical skills, but he is not more skilled than Porter. Knowing what to do in the ring is exactly what is meant by boxing skills. Porter has way more boxing skill than Broner, while Broner is more physically gifted and to this point doesn't seem particlaulry interested in learning anymore boxing skills.NateJR wrote:He's way more skilled, but not as tactical. If all 161 pounds of Shawn Porter is coming straight at me with that stiff arm of a jab, I might not think it looks pretty, but I'm inclined to think I'd feel a quite effective skill.
What I'm trying to say, is that I think too often more fluid looking boxers get credit for being more skilled, even when they are less effective. I didn't see more skill from Broner the other night, I saw a guy not throwing nearly enough punches. That's not a particularly great "skill" to have in boxing.
