I think everything is on a plate for Canelo, providing he beats Cotto. He could fight Lemieux with two titles on the line, but that is all in the future.
Right now, I see Lemieux having a couple of defences; perhaps Rubio?
Lemieux was much more mature in this fight and looked more like an experienced world contender. He's only 26.
Golovkin may get a fight against Canelo/Cotto or Lemieux but it will be late next year and triple G may have had to move up in weight for a big fight. The only thing against Golovkin is his age and lack of willing big name opposition. I don't see Golovkin beating Ward though.
Any of the four names would make for exciting fights - Cotto, Canelo, Golovkin and Lemieux, even though Canelo hasn't actually moved up to 160 yet.
I actually see it as the opposite. In his first loss verse Rubio, Lemieux pressured him early and it looked to me that Rubio had a game plan from the get go. He waited Lemieux out, waited until the later rounds and then turned it on against a spent opponent. Though David was much less experienced at that time. I'm sure he learned a lesson....... Not everybody can be knocked out.

It is possible but I'd say that it's more likely he has less wins than stated, if the number of defeats has been understated, then it follows that the number of wins would have been overstated, both are done to make the record sound better than it is. I'd be surprised if he had 350 fights too, that's at least 2 fights a month for over a decade, which is unlikely with injuries, rest and time between fights.
YOU GUESS, Kostya tszyu had 280 odd fights and was 19 when he turned pro, Eastern block country's have their amateurs fighting 2-3 times a week sometimes, lomachenko with 400 odd fights under his belt and he is 27 if I remember correctly

Lemieux vs GGG is like Shavers vs Foreman. Lemieux could get lucky because of his power, but the superior fighter is GGG. I don't know who hits harder but I think that Lemieux gets tagged once over his ear (his weakness) and the fight is over early. Or Lemieux lands a clean left hook and all hell breaks loose. That is why we watch.
Lemieux has a better left hook but Golokin has the better overall punches. Better jab, better right hand, better uppercut, better body punches. Take away the left hook and Lemieux has absolutely 0 chance.

Often at an armature tournament (i.e. Ringside, PanAm, Francaphone Games, etc.) a fighter has 5 matches. A few tournaments each year, plus some local shows ---and 30 fights per year is not unreasonable.

I remember when GGG haters claimed power punching Curtis Stevens would expose GGG. After Golovkin made easy work of Stevens; Stevens was suddenly an overmatched bum.
If GGG were to face and beat Lemieux, the same people picking Lemieux over GGG will turn around after the fight and say Lemieux was an overrated one dimensional fighter who had already lost to Rubio and Alcine. GGG gets so much hate it's unbelievable.

Yes, the hate is growing, and this guy is seeing a pattern:
Lemieux is not Stevens, whose recent results include a draw with Rosado and a one-sided lose to N'dam.
Lemieux is a better puncher in my opinion, but more importantly he doesn't sit back and remain largely inactive for long periods like Stevens does. Stevens has some pop but he's far from a pressure fighter, and so far the key to success against GGG has to fight fire with fire---stay away from the ropes, get in close where GGG doesn't have as much pop on his shots, and move your hands so GGG isn't just walking forward and throwing sweeping shots from 3/4 range with impunity. Now I don't think that Lemieux would beat the technically sharper and seemingly more durable GGG, but his mix of aggression, inclination to fight inside, and ability to generate great power with very short punches--which I think he does better than GGG--make him capable of troubling Gennady like few in the division are.
I am a fan of both fighters and if GGG blows through Lemieux without problems--which wouldn't shock me--I won't backtrack and start calling Lemieux a bum.
I got tricked into clicking on this by the title. I was expecting some Bnov type entertainment and I'm a little disappointed.
Now I'm here... It's easy to think that Lemiux v GGG would be a short fun war like Canelo Kirkland but I think it would be horribly one sided.Golovkin's jab is his best punch and he would be landing that even more frequently than Ndam did while stepping back and timing Lemiux with right hands as he walks straight in to T Rex arm left hook range.
I can easily see this fight being an extreme anti climax but I want to see it anyway.
Lemiux is so clumsy, basic and lacking speed that I don't give him much hope of getting anything done before the inevitable destruction. I was very impressed by his conditioning though I don't think I've seen a boxer miss that many power shots before without becoming totally gassed.
Lemiuxe got ktfo by Rubio the same Rubio that GGG annihilated.
It's not secret that Lemieux struggled with his stamina early on in his career and if you watched the Rubio fight, you could see exactly what happened. Lemieux learned the hard way in that fight that he can't knock everyone out early and he needs to prepare for 12. I think he's done that and looks like a completely different fighter than the one that lost to Rubio. Also, don't forget that Rubio was a heck of a fighter and all you have to refer to is the boxer passed his prime that faced GGG.

Well, N'Dam based his game plan on that loss on Rubio. Look what happened !
Lemieux is not 22 anymore, and since he changed training team, he has improved a lot.
IF Lemieux had followed the game plan on Rubio instead of spending all his energy on hitting Rubio, he woud have won.
that is true Lemieux has improved but he did not exactly blow out jikam. Lemieux lost several rounds and got hit quite a bit too, if not for the KDs that actually would have been a rather Close fight.
GGG would have battered jikam and he would hit Lemieux at will. Lemieux would have a Punchers Chance but GGG is superior in most regards and probably physically stronger too.
i think the loss to Alcine was worse than the Rubio loss, Alcine was shot when they fought and was knocked out by both Macklin and Rose in his next 2 fights, but as people have said this was 4years ago and Lemieux has improved alot since then, its one of the best fights the Middleweight Division has to offer really
crusader wrote:GGG has taken punches very well so far and clearly has a good chin, but how would he react to being hit often by Lemieux?
Golovkin will not be hit OFTEN. If Lemieux fights like he usually does, Golovkin's shots will hurt him early.
I see it similarly. If Lemieux took the same approach to GGG as he did N'Dam GGG would take him out early. But it would be interesting while it lasted.
