Is Pascal faded because Kovalev stopped him? He looked fine in widely defeating Bute....
Hopkins and Pascal are stll arguably the 3rd and 4th best fighters in the division.

"Even" Beterbiev ??? Beterbiev can beat Stevenson, Hopkins and Pascal. Possibly even Kovalev.verballistic wrote: Kovalev needs to step up with a win over someone like Stevenson. As it stands now, Kovalev's resume is no stronger than GGG's & Golovkin is always catching flak for his shallow resume.
Kovalev's two "career-defining" wins are over a 50-year-old Hopkins & a faded Pascal. Even Artur Beterbiev would be a step up for Kovalev.

What is so good about Beterbiev that he the future while Kovalev will be just another beltholder?
If a win over Gabriel Campillo does it for you, notice that Kovalev beat him even more quickly than Beterbiev did.

Okay, so why will Kovalev prove to be just another good champion (is there any difference to you between being a champion and beltholder?) while Beterbiev is the future of the division? What evidence suggests this to you?
Sure, Beterbiev may have had fewer bouts than Kovalev when he beat Campillo, but Kovalev owned the Spaniard in every respect before stopping him in the third, and I think it would be very hard for anyone to improve on that performance. Given that Campillo was arguably Beterbiev's best opponent and Kovalev already beat him so handily, it's hard for me to see how one gathers at this point that Beterbiev will be significantly better than Kovalev and beat him if they fight just a few bouts from now. To me Beterbiev is clearly an inferior boxer than Kovalev, with his shots being wide and telegraphed. He's also fairly easy to hit, and while he obviously punches hard so does Kovalev. His stamina is also yet to be tested, and given that he puts so much into his shots I can see how he'd start to flag if he's dragged into the later rounds.
