Ringside cancelled from this month
Just read sky are pulling the plug on it from this month, which would be in line with the fairly recent announcement by Sky to cut back on non-live coverage programming across all sports.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
May as well be on matchroom fight pass with how biased it has been lately

Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
It's always been a fairly poor show, but since the Matchroom exclusivity deal it's just been an hour-long advertisement for Hearn's stable. I've not watched it for months now & won't miss it at all.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
I reckon they will still have specials every few weeks and build up shows for the ppvs but as a weekly show it seems it will get the chop and they will do more with podcasts and on demand content.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
maybe I'm in the minority but I will miss it if I'm honest.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
It should have been overhauled not cancelled.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
After watching them for a while I have always thought they have tried to be fair with news about other promoters shows and always liked the small hall round up but with the Matchroom content and fighters to promote always going to be heavily matchroom orientated but I believe you would here more about an upcoming Wazza show on there then you would a Matchroom show on the Bunce hour.

I haven't watched Ringside for a while a but I quite liked the highlights of various small hall and international shows so I'll miss it.

Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
I used to watch it every Thursday religiously at one point and have enjoyed the hour long interview shows in the studio over the years. Less boxing, even shows talking about boxing, can only be a bad thing for the sport.Crazyboy wrote:maybe I'm in the minority but I will miss it if I'm honest.
We can all knock it for the content over the last couple of years but we've had some great moments as well. I think the face-off shows between Froch-Groves, Haye-Klitschko, Khan-Brook, DeGale-Groves and Fury-Haye spring to mind.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
Is this because Sky have paid an obscene amount of money to cover the Premiership?
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
Bad news I think! hope they sort something else out!?
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
Bunce might have improved,I haven't watched it ages. The mentions of other promoters shows were usally in Edd Robinsons news round up.It might be time for me to give the Bunce hour another go also I should try to catch Boxing matters more often.Shambles wrote:I always thought this was the other way round.ashedward wrote:After watching them for a while I have always thought they have tried to be fair with news about other promoters shows and always liked the small hall round up but with the Matchroom content and fighters to promote always going to be heavily matchroom orientated but I believe you would here more about an upcoming Wazza show on there then you would a Matchroom show on the Bunce hour.

I will miss it because it was boxing on the tv.
Not because it was any good.

Thank fcuk. It was alotta pish anyhoo.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
I might be wrong, it might be to do with the way the Ed Robinson is so understated when talking about other promoters fighters, whereas Bunce seems to shout about it as if he's being incredibly generous.ashedward wrote:Bunce might have improved,I haven't watched it ages.

I think it was cringe worthy at times but the more boxing coverage on tv the better in my opinion.ShadrachSimmo wrote:Thank fcuk. It was alotta pish anyhoo.

Yeah that could be it.

Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
That's possible...it was an eye-watering amount and I think even the smug bastardos at The Premier League were a bit taken aback by the tsunami of cash coming their way. Even the Murdoch's sometimes have to think about the budget..although the time will no doubt be filled with more football 'filler' content. Is this because Sky have paid an obscene amount of money to cover the Premiership?
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
It's old hat. There's more than enough pre- and post-fight shit-talking on YouTube.
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
I won't miss it , it's way way to biased Adam smith is just terrible and always makes me want to turn it over . It should be a well balanced show that's good to watch but it's a commercial platform for hearns stable no matter who it is no amount of hype is to much it seems .it has forgotten the boxing fans that watch it aren't stupid and can she through and are put off by shameless the over hyping a poor product at times . presented by a strange creepy man "exciting times ahead "
Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
The way things are going I'm surprised they didn't make it PPV.
I didn't really enjoy it. It seemed like it was aimed at casual fans. Maybe that was their remit.

Re: Ringside cancelled from this month
Complete garbage. Adam Smith, Johnny Nelson & an exclusive matchroom advertising billboard. Anything that SKY did not have coverage of, at most it got a 5 second mention. It's almost as if any action associated with FW didn't exist.
I did enjoy some of the content like the Larry Holmes special maybe about a year ago, maybe Boxing just isn't mainstream enough to have a magazine style show, i'd love to see maybe another network create a magazine style show mainly focused on boxing but could perhaps include other combat sports like UFC to give the broadcasters enough meat to fill it and enough content to go with.

It used to be good 5+ years ago but has deteriorated to the point I haven't watched it for about a year. Too much hype and butt kissing of the Hearn stable, became cringe worthy in the end
