It not even a sanctioned bout but two amateurs who did well as pros...

A sparring session between Colin McNeil and Kevin Anderson. Two excellent fighters going toe to toe for 5 or 6 rounds from about two foot away and plenty space to move around for angles. Absolutely rapid both of them, very very evenly matched.

.....archie moore vs. oakland billy smith.....1948....cincinnati.i had seen some other fights, but i was intrigued by archie moore's style.

i was only in my teens then, but when ezzard charles fought jersey joe walcott for the vacant title, i knew my favorite fighter ezzard would win because i thought if he could beat archie three times he could beat anybody.

I don't know how many times I need to insist....fights 4,5,6 and 7, would not have gone Ezz's way.

I had the pleasure of covering several of the major bouts from the late 80s through 2000 for a newspaper chain in Canada. Four that really stand out were Hagler-Hearns (the best sustained action I ever witnessed in person), Hagler-Leonard (I still think the Marvelous One won it), Tyson-Ruddock 1 and, especially, Moorer-Foreman. What I'll always remember about the latter was Big George's comment after the final press conference a couple of days before the fight: "I'll probably lose every round until I get the chance to land my punch ... but one chance and one punch is all I'm gonna need."
