It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!

Post by KBB »

Floyd has narrowed it down to these two and before y'all all start pissing and moaning; he had this to say:

Why not? Manny fought Algieri when he was a nobody and Berto has had better fights than him. He also said that people will miss him when he leaves boxing.

I won't miss him fighting the likes of those two.

He can try to square it anyway he wants, but the top guy in the sport shouldn't be having to qualify his possible choice of opponents like this, it's pathetic.

No more pathetic than Manny vs Algieri. Berto has had better opponents than Algieri by far.

No way Floyd fights these guys. He likes to cherry pick but not to that extent. This wouldn't be the first time when he tries to confuse everybody.

Why are you comparing him to Manny? One shit opponent choice for Manny doesn't make Floyd's okay now.

If he fights one of those 2 it won't matter how hard he works to sell it, it will be the worst numbers he will ever bring in on PPV, why do these top fighters feel they deserve an easy fight, they only fight once or twice a year, fair enough if they have laid off for 15 months with injury just to clear the rust but going from pacquaio to these two is ridiculous

Honestly, Floyd deserves to take a fight like this no matter how unappealing it is. He's been fighting the cream of the crop for a long time now and for his last fight supposedly, I will not knock him for it. In fact, i'd love to see him fight Berto. A lot of speed in the ring with those two. I probably wouldn't even watch the Mayfield fight but again, i don't blame Floyd one bit. I doubt he'll be able to justify a PPV gate for either of these fights though. Now's the time to get out if you're Floyd. He's done enough and his legacy is firmly entrenched in the All Time conversation so why risk it?

With all that said, I think that the odds of Floyd retiring after his contract is up is low. I predict that he signs on with the PBC for 2-4 more fights. I'm sure Haymon and Floyd already have it planned out. The PBC needs Floyd and I bet Haymon even offers Floyd a piece of the company if he signs on and brings his fanbase. No brainer for Haymon.

For the same reason you are bashing him for making this choice but said nothing of Packy fighting Algieri.

The double standard is in effect!! BHop and any other fighter can choose to fight any bum (not saying he is right now) at the end of their career but Mayweather has to fight a top contender even though he has basically beaten all the best fighters at WW, nope, he doesn't deserve a pass but everyone else does.

Way to go.

I thought Floyd did a number on Manny. He took away every weapon Manny had and left him with nothing. This was a masterclass.
So I think he can now take one farewell and enjoy this-one to the fullest. I totally expect him to retire after this, his what, 40.. that's crazy age for Welter.

Yes, Algeri was unbeaten and had just beaten Provodnikov so people were mentioning him

Algeri at least was undefeated and did outbox Ruslan and matched Khan who people think is good enough to fight Floyd.

Berto was stopped by Soto Karass of all people and Mayfield couldn't beat Emanuel Taylor who Algeri DID beat

LOL @ Brut defending Floyd's choices... Have you ever been critical of Floyd?

Even if these guys were on par with Algeri, this may very well be Floyd's last fight. Why go out on a dud? Floyd is proclaiming himself to be the GOAT, and he chooses these guys? I honestly think he's just getting a rise out of people with this crap. Floyd will fight someone at least a bit more worth while.

I'd give Berto a slim chance. Mayfield no chance. Just like I'd give Khan a slim chance. Rather see Berto than Khan. I think Berto if he were to get the fight. Berto might fight Mayweather like he has nothing to lose. There would be a chance the fight could be better than expected. I think Khan would choke big time.

The same Berto who was getting outworked by J Lopez before he got a lucky stoppage? The same Berto who got bullied by Guerrero? This is why I think Berto's name being mentioned is literally a joke by Mayweather just to rile people up.

It might not be a joke though. I'm taking it as if it were for real. I don't think it's a great choice either. But it is what it is. It might happen. Then what?

Would Showtime allow Mayweather to fight either guy, surely they'll have some sort of input,Floyd's been paid very well for these fights, wouldn't Showtime be peeved if its an opponent who will damage ratings?

TBH I dont believe a word of it,if Floyd wanted an easy fight then there's plenty of safer options where he wouldn't get nearly as much flak than those 2

I did criticise Manny's choice, and I didn't watch the fight. But that fight doesn't make a bad fight by Floyd okay, I don't even understand why you brought Manny into this.

Floyd is gonna make Berto and Mayfield his main sparring partners to prep him to face the 35-0 Kell Book. Floyd knows that in order to clain to be TBE, he must fight the best. I believe he is trying to see how much disappointment we all feel about him not fighting Khan!? I haven't heard any complaints yet
