Do you know who I am?
Re: Matt Christie - can you explain ?
i still subscribe to boxing news, and it's still worth it for things like the quigg feature this week and the one on mitchell the other week. i was really disappointed with their coverage of mayweather v pacquiao and was told that they put stuff online now instead of in the magazine, which doesnt make much sense to me as im paying for the mag. i want a finished, polished, thought-through magazine every week not just some rapidly typed fluff on a website just like millions of others. i never read the boxing news website.
for me personally, im not a big fan of reading lengthy reports of british small hall shows because most of them are filled with 40-36 vanity fights which are of little appeal to anyone outside the boxer's immediate family and circle of friends. i do like reading reports of genuine prospects though, and proper trade fights at whatever level. if it's two lads having a good, honest go then it deserves some coverage...
i really like the previews, and the fact they get someone to give their view on the fight. they had a new person writing a preview the other week that was particularly excellent. i preferred it when the letters were at the back. gives them a bit more weight and 60 second interview is hit and miss, why not have the big names in there sometimes too? sometimes they are too obscure.
as for the fitness! why have one of those bearded berks with a sleeve tattoo doing it!!! maybe im too old school but i cant take it seriously if i see one of those show ponies, looks like he should have a craft beer in his hand instead. get someone with a decent haircut (forces?)
overall though, if you are a boxing fan then boxing news is unmissable. it has its faults but it would be terrible if it disappeared so that's why i support it.

Re: Matt Christie - can you explain ?
Matt Christie will still be finding his feet as the new editor and plans he may have will still have to be implemented. However this thread has attracted a lot of interest and his silence is deafening.
I'm still looking for an answer to my original question - why were 3 minor shows in London covered in full while other shows , perhaps more important, were not ??

Re: Matt Christie - can you explain ?
To be fair I think Boxing News do still report on every British pro show. They just happen to lump 2 or 3 of them together in a round-up section. Personally, I preferred it the way it used to be.
About half the magazine looks as if it could be (and probably is) produced in about 1/2 hour. The other 1/2 is a good read and still makes it worth buying.
