Hi Phil,
I have spoken about this with Phil Lindsay previously. It is, I must admit, an odd one. The bout, along with four others from the same event, was entered into the BoxRec database way back in 2009 by one of the French editors. Too much of a coincidence birth date and name wise for it not to be the same boxer. I suspect that maybe having entertained ideas of going pro the boxer opted to return to the amateurs and duly stayed amateur until after the London Olympics or, his bout in France, against another debutant, may have been on some sort of pro-am show. I don't know if they even have those in France and it's highly unlikely that details from an amateur bout would find their way onto the database anyway, certainly not from a show in France. Either way the bout in question is locked so can't just be deleted. I suspect the chances of finding anything out regarding the said show online are slim but I will have a look and see if I can find anything further.
Good luck with next weekend's show btw.

Aren't Amateurs allowed to contest maximum 2 pro bouts & then can return to Ams if that's where their heart (gold medal) is?

I'm not sure what's allowed now tbh Anton. Phil will know how it used to work as his son Tony was a top amateur back then, bronze medal winner at the Beijing Olympics no less :bag:
