It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Just fought pacquaio but need Berto or mayfield to prepare for brook, are you kidding?
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
I'll defend the choice when it is actually a choice. If a guy is pushing 39, and if people complain about it not being a top pfp contender in his prime, that is the ultimate compliment to FM. Roach went on record saying that Pac was still prime, hitting faster and harder than ever before. It's all easier said than done.

Some people will miss him. Others won't.KBB wrote:Floyd has narrowed it down to these two and before y'all all start pissing and moaning; he had this to say:
Why not? Manny fought Algieri when he was a nobody and Berto has had better fights than him. He also said that people will miss him when he leaves boxing.

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Every time I've gotten on guys like Juan Manuel Marquez, Carl Froch, and other money fighters for taking an easy fight, this forum seemed to be of the opinion that these guys have earned an "easy" fight.
Cool.
So, Floyd hasn't earned an "easy" fight? I am curious to see Floyd in with a regular fighter if it's on regular TV. He has declined while continuing to face top competition. I want to see him fight a guy who he can showcase some of his old skills before retiring.
What's the loss? There's really no one from 140-154 who can beat him. We all know this. The only intriguing fight would be Lara. Although, I had him winning by a round, Lara got exposed by Canelo. He lacked the consistent poise of a true master boxer. He also seems to get winded down the stretch of tough fights.
I'd prefer a Rock Balboa type journey man though.

Yeah, being the man who setting is records for himself and other boxers to get massive pay checks, He really is bad for the sport
If money, cheating, bad sportsmanship, fighting second tier opposition etc., is what makes this sport interesting for you, fine with me. For me its bringing boxing closer to its end.

Who said he needed him to prepare for Brook? You hate so much that you couldn't even comprehend that he's not even fighting Brook.Pureist wrote:Just fought pacquaio but need Berto or mayfield to prepare for brook, are you kidding?
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Yes it does, and I'll say Berto is far more a threat than pillow punching Algieri or Khan, if you cannot admit that Floyd's choice is better than either of them then you are exacting the double standard.SNG wrote:Why are you comparing him to Manny? One poo opponent choice for Manny doesn't make Floyd's okay now.
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
You're such a d*ck, if this is his last fight then he should be able to go out however he wants, he just beat the man that all y'all were under a delusion for years thinking that he'd KO Floyd and the man that Roach said was still in his prime.Pureist wrote:If he fights one of those 2 it won't matter how hard he works to sell it, it will be the worst numbers he will ever bring in on PPV, why do these top fighters feel they deserve an easy fight, they only fight once or twice a year, fair enough if they have laid off for 15 months with injury just to clear the rust but going from pacquaio to these two is ridiculous
What other fighter takes on a super dangerous opponent in his last fight? Stop being a jerk, jerk.
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
I don't think you know what double standard means.KBB wrote:Yes it does, and I'll say Berto is far more a threat than pillow punching Algieri or Khan, if you cannot admit that Floyd's choice is better than either of them then you are exacting the double standard.SNG wrote:Why are you comparing him to Manny? It's a good thing you are not intelligent enough to be paid to think.SNG wrote:I don't think you know what double standard means.

I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.KBB wrote:It's a good thing you are not intelligent enough to be paid to think.SNG wrote:I don't think you know what double standard means.
Explain to me the double standard in criticising Manny's shit opponent and now criticising Floyd's potential shit opponent. Good luck.

That first sentence of yours proves my point to a "t".SNG wrote:I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.![]()

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Your point was that I hold Floyd to a double standard, my sentence doesn't reference that at all, please explain for everyone my double standard. You're not able too because I haven't displayed a double standard, so you're either so stupid as to have used the incorrect criticism or you're so Incredinly mind numbingly thick that you actually think it is a double standard to criticise both for having shit fights. Either way I'm enjoying laughing at you, but hey, I'm so dumb aren't I?
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Yes you are so dumb. In essence you have given MP a pass for having a poo opponent but are unwilling to give Floyd a pass for one poo opponent, so yes you are making a double standard, stupid idiot.SNG wrote:Your point was that I hold Floyd to a double standard, my sentence doesn't reference that at all, please explain for everyone my double standard. Your quote:
That's like saying, "I can accept that MP had a poo opponent, but that doesn't mean Floyd has the right to fight one nor will I accept it.Why are you comparing him to Manny? One poo opponent choice for Manny doesn't make Floyd's okay now.
You've been exposed for making your own self look dumber than you really are.
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Right I'm going to lay this out for you, as your comprehension is fornicating bizarre.
You brought Manny up, for no reason In this thread about Floyd's potential opponent. I criticised Manny's fight with Algieri at the time, and I didn't watch it (I've already explained this, I don't really understand what you're struggling with) so no pass was given for Manny, and it has no bearing on Floyd's future opponents. I am now criticising Floyd's potential choice of opponent for being weak too, so again can you explain the double standard I've displayed instead of making one up in your own head.
If I were you I'd just retire now because you're literally wrong, and you are just dragging this out and making yourself look stupid. I will not get bored of telling you either.

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Manny was brought up because I knew that there would be people who would complain about Mayweather's choice of an opponent (just as you are doing here), I didn't see where you criticized Algieri but the fact that you were here criticizing Floyd and me not seeing you do the same to MP lead me to believe that you were showing the bias that you can clearly see others here are doing.SNG wrote:Right I'm going to lay this out for you, as your comprehension is effing bizarre.

The bottom line is that while neither man fought/while have fought great opponents (assuming Mayweather fights either Karim or Berto), this is Mayweather's last fight and after fighting a basic "who's who" list of fighters in boxing then he deserves one easy shot.
We allow fighters who aren't even retiring to get easy fights but then complain when Floyd doesn't fight the guy his detractors believes can beat him. If I said anything in regards to you showing a double standard it was based upon me not seeing your criticism of MP choosing CA as an opponent and I stand corrected.
You're not dumb or an idiot, my bad and apologies.
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Fair enough.
I apologise to.

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Brut holds up Manny as the gold standard. Whatever Floyd does he always compares to Pacquiao.
If Floyd picks a weak opponent the first thing Brut looks to is if Pacquaio picked one recently, because Floyd will never escaped the Filipinos shadow in his mind.

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
It should be one of these guys. Ranked from best to worst imo
1. Kell Brook
2. Keith Thurman
3. Shawn Porter
And really I only want to see him fight #1 or #2. I may tune into the Khan fight just to see the knock out but if it is anyone other than Brook, Thurman, Porter, Khan then I am not watching.

Unless the under card for his next fight is outstanding. I will probably wait for the replay on Showtime.
none of the realistic opponents interest me in the slightest.

Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
When there is much better opponents wanting to fight him, it is wrong, a farce, not like he is rusty now is it
Re: It's going to be Berto or Mayfield!!
Yes, you're right!! I do hold Manny up as the "biased" gold standard because people like you gave him a pass for fighting Algieri but wouldn't do the same for Floyd if he faces Berto. Notice I said Berto,!! Not Karim because if Money fights him then that is too weak a choice, at least the fighter he faces has to have some type of name/pedigree or pose at least a puncher's chance.Ricky_ wrote:Brut holds up Manny as the gold standard. Floyd won't ever escape Manny's shadow because Floyd is the only fighter who can be laughed at for getting caught with a shot by people like you but you won't laugh when Packy is put to sleep in devastating fashion.
Manny isn't the gold standard, he is the standard by which biased and hateful fans towards Mayweather create your double standards for Money but won't be fair or objectionable enough to do the same towards Packy.
